Potential new class in wow: Bard

sigh

This has been explained endlessly…

Bard doesn’t have to be ONLY an enhancement class. There are PLENTY of examples in other games that can be followed to make them decent damage dealers and healers.

They’ve already done this in SL, so it could totally be a thing.

“We found music magic in Shadowlands, and we’ve figured out how to use it!”

your pretty much wasting your time, everybody does it to each other at this point. If someone doesn’t want a certain class fantasy added over their own preferred fantasy it’s easy to use fallacies and bad arguments to justify not having that class added. We’ve seen it with bards, tinkers, necromancers, dragonsworn the list goes on. It’s willful ignorance.

The idea of Bards in WoW wouldn’t likely work, especially when they’re more support-like than a actual class buffs and literally no damage potential. Unless you mean a bard from… Forgot what game but they’re archers for some reason. Like… We have other classes that could be called entirely something different but fall well under as something else. We have Shamans who are aptly called Earth-Shifters, Witch Doctors, Stormcallers, etc.

Even though that’s my (Terrible) excuse why Bards sound like utter crap to be added to WoW as a class, they’d have to pull a Monster Hunter where it’ll has to swing its instrument in order to be able to play the notes. Also, doesn’t help that the idea of a particular bard from League of Legends isn’t gonna be a well-liked example either.

Better just see what WoW does, if it makes sense at its time of introduction but personally, Bard is well off from not even being a preferable choice.

In the case of necromancers though, Blizzard themselves has already explained why that probably wouldn’t happen. They already incorporated much of what a necromancer does into Death Knights.

I mean, they MIGHT pull out a full-fledged Necro as they have in Diablo, but I highly doubt that one. I’d bank on other classes LONG before Necro.

100% untrue, and many other games have used them to great potential.

Just because you think “all they do is sing and buff people” doesn’t mean that’s how they will be implemented.

They CAN be made to deal damage and heal well using music. Other games have done it just fine.

I don’t get this argument of Bards being too support-y to be a viable class. Give them literally one healing and one damaging spell and they can do any content anyone else can do. It’s not hard to implement. If you can quest and solo things as a Holy Priest, you can do it as a Bard. Ya’ dig?

Strum them lutes and kick them boots.

Warlock and DK are more than enough to fit that archetype yea I agree. Personally my favorite idea is a battlemage-like class that just has an overall diverse skillset, but I honestly don’t care either way.

What a class actually is named is just the artstyle and cosmetics it will go with, from there blizzard can be pretty damn liberal about how the gameplay actually works in my honest opinion.

There’s a game I reference often in which they also carried a sword and were somewhere between a Warrior and a Rogue in terms of fighting ability, in addition to their healing and damaging songs.

See, it’s a more reasonable argument against Bards to claim that Blizz would never put them in the game, because they’d probably use their own specific weapons and they’d be the only ones to use them. You gotta give a Bard a lute or guitar or something. They can’t just use axes or bows or something.

What they could do though, is give them the ranged slot, that casters use to have for wands and then put the musical thing in there and have their main hand/offhand be whatever. :man_shrugging:

They had to carry an instrument as well and used magic horns that they could use to blow out fire or frost (I swear I remember a “storm” horn as well, but I might be misremembering that one)

Game sounds dope af. Not gonna lie. :joy:

You can still play it. They updated it on Steam a couple of years ago:

Sure, they did it well but it doesn’t mean it will be effective in WoW’s case. People always throw that word around like it is a buzzword from someone higher up in the corporate chain and think it’ll do well because its what we all said…

Whatever it is people think it is now, likely isn’t good for WoW because when I think of bards, I think of D&D. If Blizzard goes about it, it would have to be quite elaborate or creative than the one I am thinking of.

You should stop doing that and look at ALL instances of Bard since then. It’s been reimagined quite a bit over the years and has a lot of potential. It could absolutely work for WoW.

The bard class in FFXIV sucked. We don’t need to ruin what the hunter represents now. Leave it alone.
Everyone who has asked for these “tinker and bard” along with “player housing” classes are pulling them right out of FFXIV.
There is a reason WoW is WoW. Yes we need a new class but something that will represent WoW, not another game.

Only if they implement it like EQ and we get to watch people get carpal tunnel.
