You running back to your corpse from the GY takes away more xp gain than the 10% increase you earn from Warmode.
Also level as Tank (WM on or off), Accept Quests, Pull the zone, Loot, Turn in quests, Level.
disable war mode.

Gotta have your main pre-positioned close by, so after being spawn camped, you can swoop down on you main and get some payback.

Think of it as a crash course on defensive play.
I just die over and over. Is there something else I can be doing? 
Along with what others have suggested, maybe rethink your expectations. The 10% exp boost isnāt a reward for having war mode on, itās to help smooth out the lost time leveling because you will be forced into fights/camping you didnāt intend on.
Not the answer youāre hoping for, Iām sure, but might be the best way of handling it.
To run counter to those answering opposite to how you askedā¦
If I ever have concern of being camped or think its going to be a rough time. I try and move my main or other geared alt to the location, or near by, that Iāll be questing in. Usually just pop them in an inn near by so if anything happens, its a quick log while dead, hop over, and hunting time.
The problem is, of course, War Mode does work in shards. So you might not be guaranteed to even find the person who killed you. My suggestion worked a lot better back when it was just PvP/RP-PvP servers and PvE servers. Still, thats the next best thing I can think of youāre truly alone.
The other option is of course to join a guild or make some friends whoād be willing to come out and help you. Just a quick, āhey Im getting camped trying to level, can anyone come outā and if folks arent busy or would love a fight, you can get that taken care of in as little as 30 seconds.
Otherwise, its pretty easy now to escape. Rez, mount, and try a different location for 10/15 minutes before returning. Even just pick some flowers or do some mining. That small break will often make the other person leave.
Create an alt on the gankerās faction and whisper them about how terrible they are. Gankers absolutely hate this.
best you can do is ask in gen chat for help.
Get some invisibility potions. If they are camping you drink one as soon as you rez and youāll be able to get far enough away to mount up. If they use a wingshredder roll to evade it. If they keep following you on their mount fly to a neutral city where the guards will help you if they attack you.
Just gotta do what you did and try to gank them back or find another spot to level. Or go make some food, watch a good show then return and said player should be gone

i mean not much I can really do tbh. Iām not terribly geared. Just got ganked again soon as I left a bg. A 70 dh hopped on me took most of my hp, I used my wall, I popped chains of ice, then asphyxiated them tried to wraith walk away but I just got glaved and died instantly. If a 70 can still take most of my hp with a single move or 2 not much my abilities can do. Only reason I even got as far as I did is because they didnāt trinket the cc. Still died.
The idea is to open a gap and drop combat so you can mount and escape. You obviously wont beat him. You have to outmaneuver him. Even if you die, its still practice.
yeah I understand the idea, what else in my kit could I have used? Pls tell me, I have no clue. Used a defensive, slowed them, stunned them, they used a single glaive and I died. Donāt have fast escape like other classes.
Sometimes death is gonna happen if they get the drop on you. Its why they do it.

Yeah it is what it is. If gun shoes worked in combat i would have lived. Is there even any benefit to ganking someone 5 levels below you? Arenāt they greyed out? I donāt gank low levels personally, If I want to just kill stuff Iāll just attack a town or something.
