You know very well it has been, it’s an excuse you use often.
I started the expac when it dropped, leveled 4 characters to max. Then I took my time with Pathfinder 1 since I knew Pathfinder 2 was wayyyy in the future. Taking my time didn’t help. Even though I tried to drag it out, I still finished rep grinding months ago. I was hoping for part 2 to drop around January. That’s about the last time I still wanted to play the game - and I would have! I wanted to wait for flying to level up more alts.
As time passed, I got more and more bored and disgruntled with the wait. I found other things to do besides WoW. When the latest patch dropped, I started to speed through the content for flying, and then realized I wasn’t having fun. I stopped after a few hours.
At this point, I don’t care if I ever get flying in this expac or if I level any more alts. I’m playing ESO and Ark, and having a lot more fun.
We didn’t get flying in Legion until Broken Shore, which is roughly about the same time frame as we are now.
Blizzard openly said that it came too late in the expansion and that they’d do better next time. Yet here we are, in just as bad of a spot.
As soon as it unlocked I started alt hopping through 11 characters of rested xp with flight. Never really had time for it to set in on my main, who now just kills the mechagon rares for mounts once a day.
12-13 years ago?
People complained about a removed feature that had been in the game for the majority of the game’s lifespan at that point, not about something that was added…
So they added this crappy thing called Pathfinder, so they could remove flying for as long as possible, because the main content of each expansion has been significantly reduced in the recent expansions and they wanted to artificially increase played time, without adding more content.
Flying has been a part of the open world for longer than not, so simply trying to remove it for as long as possible is just dumb.
Well first place there was little player interaction even before flying currently, its a common complaint from people, and also I have done more WPVP since flying then I did all of BFA before on a ground mount.
Player Controlled Flying was added into the game around 2008 (I think thats when BC launched, unless I goofed on my google fu)
And the game launched in 2004. So that’s 11 out of 15 years we’ve had player controlled flight. And of the 11 years we’ve had player controlled flight, 5 of it now has been with the “brakes” of pathfinder applied.
I’ve had flying since the end of the first week it was available, and it hasn’t changed how I feel at all. I’ve been telling people, it is just flying, it isn’t anything special. But nooooo, people ignore me for insulting their precious flying saying that unlocking it will make the game a million times better. Ha, deluded disappointments. The game was just fine without flying, and it is just fine with flying.
That is relative from person to person tho.
I’m not pro classic at all.
Because this is the result of them trying to remove flying from the game, but having backlash about it. They made a problem out of flying. For all that I care they could’ve just increased the gold price each expansion and it would’ve been fine, you wouldn’t be able to buy it before max level anyway.
And we don’t enjoy it, you are sounding very selfish.
Except it seems Blizzard has realized that enough people disagree with that mindset that they don’t dare try and completely remove it from the game. They tried that once and it backfired abysmally.
Simple minded dolts. nothing to see here.
7 months =/= 11 months.
That’s Wrath
, BC was early 2007 and Wrath was late 2008.
My point still stands, we had flying for longer than not and they simply tried to remove it, then had backlash about it and so, to remove it for as long as possible, they added pathfinder, with an arbitrary amount of time between each phase of the achievement.
Which ironically they DID say they took too long on releasing part 2 for Legion.
Flying changed how I feel about the game. I enjoy it MUCH more now that I can fly.
At least Legion’s content was fun in the mean time. Not the case for BfA.
Flying makes the game more convenient, you waste less time walking and can do more things in the same amount of time (if we’re talking WQs for example). And Blizzard doesn’t like that, it throws down they time played metrics. ![]()
I am a Druid. No matter how long it takes to obtain, getting and having flying on a druid always feels good.
