Post flying feeling not what I expected

Still wondering what kind of dirt Ion has on his superiors. How is he still game director? I’m still angry over pathfinder shenanigans and the slap in the face to the players it has become although I suppose it has always been a slap in the face all along.

I’ll be the first to admit that limiting yourself to the ground when everyone can fly is less efficient.

There is a time that we should be restricted to the ground. The real issue is that Blizzard thinks the time that we should be LOCKED to the ground should be longer while those who enjoy flying think it should be shorter.

Well, pathfinder has only been around for 1/3 of the lifespan of wow. It’s been hated for … pretty much 1/3 of the lifespan of wow.

I just unlocked flying today and it’s one of the most exciting things that has happened all expansion. Now I can more easily gear up other characters to the point where I can do M+ with them.

If anyone complains about being handicapped or staying on the ground is inefficient I’d say they value efficiency over fun and should be wanting flying back like I do.

If everyone that preferred being on the ground stayed on the ground they could have the same fun gameplay loop they’ve always had all while I get to fly. It sounds like a win/win but the second that flying is released everyone of those hypocrites takes to the skies.

It should be shorter or flying removed altogether. I don’t like flying in the game but if it’s going to be, might as well not make everyone slog on the ground for a year.

And that can’t work as they’d have to physically rebuild numerous zones. They can’t go back. The idea of player controlled flight (for WoW) started all the way back in Classic. Other games have player controlled flight. It’s a human dream to fly.

What they NEED to do is expand on the mount system and make mounts, both ground and flying, more an integral part of the game.

Flying started in BC.

Farming rep to revered is hardly “organic”.

I’d be fine with it unlocking w/o the 9 month needless gate… but revered rep is not “organic”.

Let’s call a spade a spade please.

I was referring to flying in the next expansion.

Exactly. That’s not organic. Organic is “finish specific storylines”.

That is far more organic.

They tried doing that in WoD and it blew in their face…HARD.

Removing flying going forward is a bad idea. Because other games have it. Because its been around forever. Because its a human dream to fly. Also, they tried that once, it failed abysmally.

The backlash was severe (and thats putting it politely). They quickly realized they screwed the pooch and quickly worked to correct things.

I’m thinking the fun for me will be leveling and trying alts out in this expansion without the painful grind of ground mounts only.

Completing zones gets you to honored with their respective factions. A few weeks of emissaries did the rest of the work. These things happen naturally just by completing content that advances your character. I never even looked at my rep tab for pathfinder.

To each his own. I outgeared emmissary rewards quite early on my main. I was doing it exclusively for the rep for the majority of the time.

I’ve said before, I doubt very many people have left just because of flying. There are a lot of things to World of Warcraft. A lot of good, bad, and everything in between. But treating flying the way they have is not good for the game. It makes the game just a little bit worse. It can be that one thing that pushes it over the edge for some folks. It certainly was the nail in the coffin for me in WoD.

Flying has had its time. I’d say people who play specifically for flying don’t really like wow if that’s the reason they quit. Nowadays it’s just a convenience and not a necessity. When you have people parachuting in and out of quest objectives it becomes a necessity for everyone and gimps people who don’t have flying.

This is exactly it. I don’t grind rep, AP, or flying. I learned my lesson in Legion. Just play the game and do things that you enjoy on a daily basis and those things will come in time.

I didn’t do a single targeted activity to increase my HoA level, choosing do gain AP via the mission table, yet it was 55 when 8.2 opened.

I explored Naz before even stepping foot inside of mecha and I’m about a week away from flying because of that. I could grind it out sooner, but why? Everyone (even those with flying) out there prefers the jetpacks anway

More and more games are embracing the concept of player controlled flying. So … that time is not gone. Humans still want to fly the skies given the chance.
