Possible WoW 2 in 2026

I think just a better graphics engine is all the game needs…
i dont want them to switch to action combat or change much else.
I just want better character creater, better world visuals, non painted robes, etc.

but the systems don’t need to change much.
I wish they just did that with gw1 when they made gw2 keep the combat, it was perfect, and upgrade the visual experience.

I don’t think so. Even if that is the case, they can really just write it so that Azeroth’s World Soul doesn’t literally hatch out of Azeroth like a shell, it could ascend.

Hopefully, this game needs a refresh\fresh start.

All new characters, new warcraft, New engine, reset progression completely etc.

The timing might be good to make it coincide with Cata Classic.

It would give Bliz and Activision a reason to make a playable WoW available on almost all platforms. And quite, honestly, it would be about time.

It’s all about $$$.

Do they stop development on WoW in the meantime?

There’s little incentive to develop a sequel to an MMO (or most live service games) while your previous one is doing well.

There are few technical reasons for them to create a sequel to WoW, either.

Like, the idea that a “WOW 2” is a sure fire way to print money is nonsense. You risk alienating a huge amount of your current base, with no guarantee they’ll come over.

The idea that it’s a guarantee for more money isn’t true.

Personally, I’d like to see them do what GW did when it went over to GW2 and bring the ability to port our current characters over.

How? How would it alienate the playerbase? Explain to me because the coffee hasn’t hit.

WoW on console? Yes, it would bring in money.

Huff huff huffffinggg

“We’re killing off the game that you’ve spent twenty years playing and all your characters are going to be gone and you’ll be starting over. Have fun!”

Though I don’t think they’d do it, there’s no reason they’d need to develop a WoW 2 to make WoW accessible on console.

It would probably run like Ark on the Nintendo switch.

i said maybe… my point was that the game engine could be updated to one supporting more styles of play outside of one that’s over 2 decades old

You have a point, but personally I want to see the old world revamped. Too much has happened since Cata for it not to happen.
