So there’s rumors going around that Azeroth will Awaken next xpack. That would be a world ending event.
Could this be leading to WoW 2 after 11.0?

Think more “Cataclysm” than Wow 2 and just a rumor at that. Well kind of. There is a general feel for what is going to be happening in the future if you follow lore and know a very simple fact:
They are recycling previous expansion themes over again.
It would surprise me that it would be another Cataclysm event.

They have literally no incentive to develop a “WoW 2,” and no reason to.

People seem to think she’s going to bust out of the planet like a chicken in an egg.
This is a being completely made out of Arcane energy with untold, unimaginable mastery of Arcane magic. Who’s to say she won’t teleport herself out next to the planet. Or she could leak her essence out final fantasy life stream style.
We know that she’s sentient and aware of the on-goings on the surface of her planet. She even cares enough to speak to us through Magni.
I’m sure she’s not going to just destroy the entire planet and everyone on it.

I’m not sure that would destroy the world. Maybe cause a little chaos here and there… might be that we have to protect her from hungry blood elves or something but that’s likely all.
I imagine it would go the same as like all games these days… Big burst of players that dies off after a month.

update the code/system to maybe UE 5, update graphics, and get rid of excess code that they don’t use and causes problems when stuff gets upgraded.

We have this huge almost 19 year old game with so much to do, we don’t need a whole new game.

Mobile and consoles, money is a good incentive.
But with none of the retaining power of 20 years of content to fall back on.
Also a brand new game takes years to develop. Are they going to just put WoW on hold for those years? Do you think players will just sit around and wait?
Anyone crowing about WoW 2 has put about two brain cells to work on the idea and they don’t get along.

definitely need a wow 2. better engine, no spaghetti code, new servers so no lag. the weight of 500 events spread across 11 expansions not holding the engine back.
But they have to make more money than development costs plus profits for the shareholders…that is definitely not a sure bet in the MMO market, let alone any market at this point.
