These things are just pixels. You would get over it I’m sure.
True and WoW also contributed to the decline.
I played EQ and my whole guild came to WoW. Turns out, it was a great move!
“Azeroth will Awaken”
And people have ideas on what that would mean.
Remember when we went to the afterlife? And how people had ideas on what that would mean?
And what we got instead?
“Azeroth will Awaken”… who even knows what this would end up. For all we know, she’ll open a coffee shop and bistro outside Gadgetzan.
I heard a rumor WoW is confirmed to go on for 80 more years. Its in a contract.
I also heard a rumor that Blizzard kicked your dog.
Please do not disagree with me. I am just relaying rumors I heard.
I think it’s silly to speculate that they could rebuild the entire game or create a brand new MMO in 3 years.
I don’t think they’d make a sequel to wow, more likely would be “WoW 2.0”. The same game but actually modernized instead of hodge podge spaghetti code. There’s a lot of background systems that are showing their age and starting to crack.
Cross realm stuff is still broken, probably because the networks weren’t ever designed with cross realms in mind. That’s probably part of why we won’t get mega servers, I bet their infrastructure can’t handle and typical blizzard they find other excuses.
Time rifts are a hilarious lag fest. Blizzard really doesn’t have the ability to create a new rift instance when the first one fills up?
I mean just comparing Blizzard’s current shading/layering system with Guild Wars 2 shows how bad blizzard does at it. GW2 does a much better job of filling and managing it’s layers, you even get to choose if you want to migrate to a populated one. In Wow no one can even tell if it’s even working half the time. Unless you get an unpopulated shard and then it feels like the game is dead.
Don’t even get me started on what they’re doing to leveling and stats with the squish every expansion. It makes some of the sub 60 levels feel so weird. By the end of this expansion non-tank classes are going to be above 1 million hp.
It makes sense they’d try to do a reset where we keep all the stuff we’ve earned while modernizing code and rebalancing levels/stats.
It’s far more likely they would just build a new engine and ‘rebuild’ wow on top of that, to be honest. And the talk of super high fancy graphics or whatever is also never happening, as I’d bet at least 20% of their userbase isn’t running it if that occurs.
As for mobile and consoles, that’s all the more reason to “port” the game to a new engine, rather than rebuild it. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had been planning a new engine for some time, and were just waiting for the MS deal to finally be official.
Oh, I hope your forward vision comes true, (unfortunately it probably won’t).
It seems to me that a good example as to why it “should” happen has happened in the last 3 weeks or so. WoW has become so complicated and complex, that even the devs cannot keep up with it… 3 weeks of updates, patch upon patch, fix upon fix, repair upon repair.
It’s time for WoW2 or some other name.
People still get mad at the idea that someone said they may own a smart phone.
You think the forums wouldnt riot if the game needed a PC made in the last 10 years?
If the engine is holding back development, I could see a new expansion being built on an updated engine and requiring players to select between classic, current retail, and the new expansion at the launcher. It would not be a stretch to allow current retail characters to be copied forward. If future expansions are kept isolated, they would not have to remake all the old assets.
My guess is… it’s just going to be a graphical update and quest refresh of the vanilla zones.
So much bait swallowed in such little time frame.
You are absolutely right, but blizz would just re-heat the burned out hulk, and pass it off as it did with wow classic, so the 10yr old PC’s would still have a game to play with a tremendous plus factor. (Blizz would have the opportunity to fix the bugs that now permeate WoW)… ( wouldn’t that be amazing)…

You would get over it I’m sure
I don’t think my point got across correctly.
What I mean by all this is that people keeps coming back to the game for several reasons, but that changes if there’s a new game. It doesn’t matter if it’s set in the same world, it’s a new game. And many people who’s spent several years in this game will just not care to play this new game.

You think the forums wouldnt riot if the game needed a PC made in the last 10 years?
I’m playing WoW on an Apple IIe with 1MB Ram using DOS! Those sweet sweet 1D green pixel graphics are amazing.

I heard a rumor WoW is confirmed to go on for 80 more years. Its in a contract.

100% true. Fact checked by yours truly!
I don’t necessarily believe that to be true. Yes, people have invested almost 20 years of their life into this game but people who really love the world and Warcraft in general would absolutely play a WoW 2. There would undoubtedly be an enormous amount of excitement and would almost certainly become their best selling title by a landslide.
There is 1 major caveat obviously. The game has to be good. If they released a 2nd iteration of WoW with updated graphics, better engine, etc. that means nothing if the game is trash and would almost certainly kill the entire franchise. Good game = player retention, as Dragonflight has shown thus far.
In order to have any chance of releasing a “WoW 2” in 2026, they would need to already be working on it with their whole team, and then some. It’s certainly not going to happen alongside a regular expansion.

I’m sure she’s not going to just destroy the entire planet and everyone on it.
Unless we keep chewing on her slippers, that is.
sounds good as long as i can transfer my characters.

So there’s rumors going around that Azeroth will Awaken next xpack. That would be a world ending event.
Could this be leading to WoW 2 after 11.0?
Tinfoil hat secured.
She’s world-soul, a spirit. So, the planet is basically a shell, and should stay intact when she awakens and leaves it. On the other hand, if a planet does get damaged or destroyed when a titan awakens, Azeroth is actually an enemy to us.
i really wouldnt mind having a new game engine to play on. its about time for some better graphics.
graphic technology has come so far in the past few years im sure they could optimize the game to be playable by people who currently play wow withoiut needing any upgrades
