Possible to level from 50-60 in older content?

Indeed, and if you don’t want honor gear because of catch up or what not you can just dump all that honor into Marks of Honor to get transmog.

You can level to 55 before everything goes gray, leaving SL as the only way to level.

Ok, so I’m a pacifist character, leveling without killing anything. Before Shadowlands launched, this wasn’t too hard because I got reasonable xp for the city dailies, holidays, darkmoon faire, etc. I got to 120 with no problems. Now that Blizz nerfed the xp to oblivion, this is not a viable way to level.

The real problem for me has been I can’t go to Shadowlands because there’s no way to get there without killing things. However:

Archaeology gives the XP at normal levels all the way.

This is excellent news. Arch is a little problematic for me because of mobs at the dig sites, but I can try working around that. Thanks for the info, Shadowskurge!

Edit: Anyone checking my achieves to see if I’m really a pacifist will be disappointed because it shows what my other characters have done.

Well, you will find that Blizzard changed all the XP you could get from questing, mobs and dungeons to be so low in value to force you into doing Shadowlands content if you do not want spend a lot more time on previous content.

I have been doing Fishing and Cooking Daily Quests on Org on my characters. It’s all I really want to do everyday and gives me about 1 to 1.5 hours to play. That’s enough.

Using my level 53 Hunter as an example…

She gets about 900 XP for each quest. That adds to 1800 XP each day.

She needs 240,255 XP to make level 54.

240,255 / 1800 = 134 days per level. I have about 80 days into it so 54 more days to go.

As you increase in level the XP per quest drops. But the XP to level increases. So I am thinking I have another 2 years to get this Hunter to 60.

Dungeons? Only if you have a group to constant que with, otherwise no, not at all.

Do it in East Kingdom or Kalimdor, the vanilla zones. Mobs would be level 30 max, and you shouldn’t aggro them at all, unless you step on them.

Hello brother! (Sister Lyánna’s OG no kill toon, and GM of Peace Corps reporting in with an update.)

(Please forgive my 13 accidental [all stupid mistakes except one, that even a GM couldn’t find the reason in my character’s files ] kills, but I didn’t have the heart to delete her as she’s come so far. I’ve begun another Serenity, and she’s currently level 25 with zero kills.)

Don’t forget: Mining, Herbing, Pet Battles, and treasure chests [in BfA anyway-chests are currently giving me 1100 rested per - I think. Currently in a -level , and am le tired, so I’m not popping out to check.]

I’d forgotten about Archeology! Huzzah! [Anyone who’s not yet watched The Great on Hulu, remedy that immediately. It’s HILARIOUS!]

This is one of those things I just find really puzzling.

Blizz makes all these systems to give us flexibility when leveling…but once you hit 50 they just force you out. It doesn’t really make sense, and you don’t, I believe ever regain access to it, even if you want to just go back at max level and finish old quests (That said, I’ve not checked if you can, I don’t want to do this myself. Once I’m at max level, I hate getting called back down!)

I can kind of understand wanting players to be in the most recent content, but at the same time they know alot of the players play multiple alts, so it is frustrating to have to run the same track continually to get to max level, more so when we know there are options that could make the journey to max differant…but we’re just told “computer says no”

it’s like the dungeon queues when chromiewalking. They could allow you access to all xpacs at once, but instead they force you into queueing just for the xpac you chromietimed too…until you wait whatever length of time they consider too long and THEN give you the “queue all” option.

I really don’t see why we couldn’t have both a “queue just this xpac” and a “queue everything” option at the same time, but blizz decided on their crazy stupid system >.<;

I am doing quest on legion, I open my starter account, and then I party sync it with my 50 level character, I can re do the quests.

It takes a lot more time to level that way. But is doable, but if I coumd just select cromie time for 60 I wpuld be the happiest man on earth doing stratholme and scarlet monastery all day long

You can, but you do not get a prompt to start it. That happens at level 50. Likewise before Shadowlands prepatch, you could start either Outland or Northrend at level 58, but you don’t get the prompt to tell you until you reached level 60. Likewise you could start Legion content at level 98 but you don’t get the prompt to go to Legion until you reached level 100. So unless you go to the hero boards and manually check at level 48, chances are you probably wouldn’t know that you could start Shadowlands at level 48.

sadly nope. once you hit 50 you are forced into shadowlands.

want to see something interesting? when you hit 48 you unlock shadowlands…but notice how so many people stick in their leveling areas and dont rush to shadowlands? how many level 49’s you see in the timewalking zones? Should be a clear indicator of the problems

wrong, yes u can lvl 50 to 60 in old content, granted you get little XP but yes it can be done.

wrong, you start SL and yes the prompt to start also gets triggered, i know bc all my toons are now in Orbs and they are all 49. at lvl 48 and yes it starts, once your done with intro and your at orbs your lvl 49 instead of 51.

you can only access faction specific titles once you’ve chosen a faction

…but if you’re super bored and have a ton of patience, go for it!
