So RBGs def need some love. A lot of it. An idea I have floated around to my friends for a while was them re-doing/updating the old Grand Marshall gear and make them a reward for RBGs. Keep it the same rating as now 1800. It would be like a one time elite set per class for RBGs. Then you take the old sets and make them an achievement reward for something in normal BGs or something. This does two things for BGs, adds rewards for both normal and RBGs.
Thoughts?

Ive gotten elite sets from RBGs though? And you get the top % achieve along with the season that got you elite set if that is what you were talking about. And they are class specific already.
If what you are saying is that we should have diff gear from R8-R14 gear from Vanilla to the R-8 R-14 now. But hardly a single player who got that gear back in the day still plays WoW today.
Right now if you hit 1800 in RBGs you can go to Area 52 and get the Grand Marshall/High Warlord sets to use for transmog. I feel like a lot of people don’t know that. It’s per class right now. So if you get 1800 on a Paladin you get access to the Paladin Grand Marshall/High Warlord and weapons Paladins to use as transmog.
My proposal is take those vanilla sets, update their looks to more modern versions and put them at 1800 just like the current ones are now and move the old ones to a non rated BG achievement.
Youve always been able to do that in retail. Weapons are account bound on it. A warrior can unlock the most. Armor sets are class bound so any class that got R8 and above in retail can get the sets mogged to it.
But if you mean give DK and monks and Dracs new custom sets then that would be cool.
In Classic though you had to be R14 to get some of that stuff, like the weapons.
I know you have always been able to do that. I don’t think you get what I am saying lol.
Re-design the old Grand Marshall/Warlord sets and weapons, update the models make them more modern and put them as the 1800 achievement and move the vanilla sets to a BG achievement. I am not sure what you are arguing with me at this point.

I love Random BGs, I hate RBGs.
RBGs take longer to form. Not only do you need ten people, groups have a narrow idea of what is meta and suitable to bring.
It doesn’t help that Blizzard doesn’t balance specs for RBGs. Especially amongst tanks and AoE kings like current Boomie.
Sometimes you get ten people playing on maps built for 15. This makes rotations feel slow and limited.
Feels difficult to carry RBGs if you aren’t getting designated for Berserker or forced to sit a base, etc. In random BGs you have more room to play the way you want, without having to stick to a team leader’s plan.
I would much rather Blizzard create a 5v5 objective-based format to balance PvP around. And include a solo queue option. Which is what most other games do.
It’s faster to queue and gives more space for individual decision-making.
