Don’t fall for the threatening tones of the RP gatekeepers, you’re free to go to Grobbulus also, not just the new PvP server they announced.
Most of ED is going there, so you’ll be guaranteed excellent PvP, the faction balance seems to be hovering around 50/50, it’ll have excellent World PvP, it’s also a Medium server currently so there’s room. Make an attempt to RP, if that’s not your thing? At the very least respect it. Just don’t be a douche.
Let’s spread the population of these servers out, and most importantly, ensure that I can have a great experience playing on the big dick Chad server known as Herod on launch week.

I’d hardly call it ‘threatening’. We’re simply warning folks to be mindful of the RP community by avoiding trollish character and guild names, and asking that they not actively disrupt RP gatherings.

For sure, but I’ve seen some of these individuals in action in the past, primarily on the ED forums, when anyone who had the audacity to inquire about the playability of Emerald Dream would be met immediately by grumpy, hostile losers looking to scare them away.
I genuinely hope more people consider playing on Grobbulus, help make this launch as swift as possible for all of us. As long as they don’t encroach on the RP activities of the native RPers, there’s really nothing that should make people actively try to deter them from making it their home.

As far as non RP players rolling on the RP servers, its all been done for a long time now take ED as an example of how it can go right and wrong. When they interfere with player roleplaying events we have an issue and thats too far. But anything outside of that even if they name stupidly thats on them, right click report is a feature use it. They will be flagged for rename, simple.
A LOT of people dont roleplay on these servers and roll RP-PVP for the organic world pvp that it offers.

I rolled ED back in the day, because it just had less drama and general crazyness around said drama. I wish I could remember even my guildname there or any of the folks we raided with from it though. My best friend I used to play with since original beta passed years ago, but I will bring my hunter back there and play in his honor.

The data sheet someone posted on reddit this past weekend showed Grobbulus with a healthy population and almost dead even faction balance. It’s shaping up like one of the better looking realms IMO.

Once Grob was announced I have seen quite a few “elitist” threads basically threatening anyone who doesn’t RP not to roll there and if you do and don’t RP you will be reported.
Way to go guys, way to go.
I just might reconsider now cause I don’t RP all that much but do respect the RP.

I’ve had numerous recruits that showed real interest in trying and learning RP change their minds based on posts on these forums saying “Don’t come to GROB if you aren’t RP!!!” in the subjects.
It’s not very inviting. Its sabotage for a server if the community comes off that way.
It sucks having to try and convince them that most will be helpful while they learn the ways, and having them link me forum posts that make it seem the opposite.

Sad thing is, it’s not a true representation of the community.
For every vocal zealot that attempts to scare away any recruit that has genuine interest in roleplay, or would at the very least show respect to the intricacies that come with rolling on an RP server, there’s twenty silent members of that said community, that are laughing at the zealot for being a moronic gatekeeper.

Yeah…you have more than 1 poster now saying they will report players.
One went so far as to say they will report for not following the ruleset if you don’t stop when they /tell you to stop.
