It took so long to finish a game that it was nowhere near the most efficient honor.
A 12 hour AV is a mere novelty for most. No one will want to waste time dying, rezzing, and running back to a constant and slow push at a random point on the map.
A 1.5 AV will be completely empty after the first week when the people grinding honor move to WSG/AB.
I get that 1.5 AV was a nostalgic part of Vanilla. It will NOT make a memorable part of Classic.
I loved 1.5 AV, it was unique difficult, and amazing to play. That said, it took WAY too long to do anything with it and became a way-side… a curiosity to go into to say “i wonder how many hours THIS has been going on!” my record that I remember going into a battleground was like 5 days or something continuous AV
because they dont WANT to change it later. The point of classic is to set up a world that they dont have to change ANYTHING but merely open time gates for content
Hmm, maybe nerf it down a bit then, less hp for npcs or something, but if they’re going to keep 1.12 might as well just slice 80% of the map cause everyone just swooshes past it all.
I just want to play a massive AV with pvp again lol, the current pve av is poo
1.5 AV is what all the AV stories are about and what AV was for the longest time until we got what was basically a bc pre pre patch.
And it won’t even matter that much thanks to the item progress system they’re doing.
Good luck with that because 1.12 av means everyone just rushes.
And 1.12 is where horde gets the fabled AV disadvantage because now the only good strat is rushing in, something that the bridge heavily affects.
But that was the point, it was supposed to be a large scale pvp/e raid!
Yes sometimes it lasted wayyy to long, I agree, but that to me was one of the fun elements of it. I realize some people want a fast bg, but av wasn’t designed for a quick 1 hour go
I mean, be realistic, who wants to come home and play a few hours of AV and not win/lose/finish anything? You take a hold maybe… and sometime while you’re busy the next day an entirely different group of people wins the match.
I mean the only place where I would even use those rewards would be in world PvP and AV, so that kind of defeats the purpose for me.
I do think that the honor rewards should overall be more accessible, which would also help with AV rewards being more difficult to get.
That being said, honor and reputation gains of AV should be adjusted so it’s not significantly behind AV & WSG. For example, more honor & reputation for objectives & win/kills, as time goes on in the BG.
If your goal is only to get honor, then yes, but people who are asking for old AV don’t care about honor.
We want a fun experience, a PvP “endgame” to play and stay subbed for. AB/WSG are too small and strategy-wise too shallow to provide that impetus, and world PvP has no actual mechanics like town sieges or rewards to make it worth it. (in fact there are even anti-mechanics in form of DK’s).
So, as it is, AV is Vanilla’s only endgame for hardcore PvP’rs.
It’s along the same lines as doing a full bed clear, that takes upwards of 5-6 hours, or doing a raid, I think rag was going for a 4 hour clear. It’s an endgame battleground; like I said I understand taking a week to end it is a little long, but a couple hours does t seem that bad. Give it a small nerf if they have to, just make it fun again
Lots of the strategy was turning in quests and capturing wing commanders to get the air strike or buffs. But lots of people just joined the melee, and you usually needed a couple people to do the quests because of the mobs being so hard. A tank heals and dps could easily do it
AV still takes time. Yes, at a certain point it was just rushing the enemy boss… however, if either team decided to defend, it turned into a huge battle.
There was a mutual and unspoken agreement between factions to race to the finish. It didn’t have to be that way, but people really only wanted to gear up.
