how can i multibox now? never mind i’ll just do it with hardware.
It is unfortunate. They have tried to use technology instead of actual people to investigate and punish offenders. They use AI instead because it is still about profit. They just crunched the numbers and felt they could absorb the hit to subscriptions by losing multi-boxers. There are, well were, legitimate players who played well within the ToS. Never spending days griefing other players or making tons of gold to sell. Just wanting to enjoy the game on their terms. Hopefully, the desired effect occurs. If it does not, they will have exhausted all the excuses for their inability to manage the games’ exploiters properly.

I dual boxed a couple mages for a little while on a PvE server. It was quite a fun power fantasy.
Glad I got to try it before it became illegal. I only wish I had the opportunity to 5 box solo some SM dungeons.

If any of my fellow multiboxers read this you can still do it. I just finished setting up a bunch of macros and windows and im g2g . It’s like going from a brand new car to some old hoopty but i got the job done. Was able to clear dmn with eaze still . Dont give up just get out of ur comfort zone.
16 years … and people still jumping to conclusions… They did not make multiboxing an actionable offense, just the input broadcast software that is often used for multiboxing. In reality this change has to do with those that abuse multiboxing as well as botters who also use this software. That being said there are and have been hardware alternatives to using software for multiboxing since Vanilla. I have already seen quite a few people redo their setup and already sucessfully multiboxing using hardware and not violating the new change.
Yes this will make it more difficult to enter the world of multiboxing as it will increase the learning curve, increase costs for additional equipment, etc. However this change will not stop people from multiboxing. it should help though to curb the abuses that some were doing.
Lastly, if they really wanted to make multiboxing no longer viable, you know besides just coming out and saying multiboxing is no longer allowed, all they would have to do is to remove /follow… That’s it… it would become pretty much pointless at that point. Sure a few would still try but the viability to do anything of interest or importance would be gone. Also Blizzard knows all of this, and has the entire time…
Personally I love playing 2 characters at once. I wish Blizzard would allow for a certain amount of multi-boxing (with keyboard input software), (i.e maybe 2-3 max per IP address). Maybe only allow it for classic (you can’t multi farm same node there, so it doesn’t disrupt the economy as opposed to retail).
Good change but this is waaaay too late. The damage has already been done I’m afraid.

Well not really. It’s reversible. Just keep moving towards banning fly hacks, teleporting and kill the gold sellers off one by one.

Its already so much better for the community that are playing the game you created. We are immersed in the content without a player controlling 5 “robots” at a time clunkily coming along and ruining the experience of farming.
Creating legendries and working together as a guild to fill the bank is a worthwhile endeavor that will see reward, without going straight to the AH because the world is scare of Nodes.
