Policy Update for Input Broadcasting Software

Fair point. Illegal might be the wrong word. Let’s use the phrase, “now against the ToS”?

Whether they did or didn’t ban this type of software you would all still be playing.

Also 15 years for this change and its treated as a win? It’s actually a loss as I already thought up 5 different ways of getting around this.

Yep, these people will play with 5 MM hunters as one and Aim shot as one, practically obliterating who ever they had on sight even if they had 30k hp then pretend it’s not ‘cheating’

finally. multi boxers are annoying, they would lag zones and steal all the herbs

one of the best changes they could’ve made. solidifies my belief that the game is worth returning to! i’m glad blizzard is listening to the community.

Why are people still arguing multiboxing?

We did it because blizzard allowed it.

Now blizzard don’t. So we don’t do it anymore…

Move on,

I see a drop in subs coming. I feel bad for the people who were just playing multiple accounts because they just liked having the alts, but there were whole guilds which were obviously one player running around with their chickens tagging everything.

About time. It’s ridiculous that this wasn’t done years ago, but hey what’s done is done I’m just glad it will be over soon.

Multiboxing still isn’t against the TOS.

That hasn’t changed.

Using broadcasting software is the only part that is now against the TOS, not controlling multiple accounts at once.

That still hasn’t changed.

"It was as if a million multi box accounts screamed in agony, and were suddenly silenced."

no different than five people in the same room doing the same thing.

Sure, but only because you have multiple characters doing the same thing.
Also, you have to be able to afford tens of characters to make it profitable, so it’s not always an advantage.

But either way, why does a monetary advantage matter? Should we ban people who are good at making gold on the AH now? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’m not a multiboxer because i don’t see the fun in it. im just defending what blizzard has stood by for 16 years and now suddenly decides it’s not okay.

Question for you: do you think in-game macros are cheating? Because currently there’s a number of macros which do not follow the 1-click 1-action mantra, and if we’re going to go after cheating and automation I think those oughta be banned too.

You think someone is going to be either
A)Playing multiple accounts across different PCs with different peripheral?
B)Multiple PCs with 1 keyboard mouse input?

Attacking key broadcasting makes any sort of reasonable multibot setup illegal. Sure, you can have two keyboards, on two computers, trying to control two characters, but it’s going to be awkward, and almost certainly end right there.

Historically they’ve not differentiated between hardward and software exploits. An elaborate keyboard solution that automated your character is just as bannable as some run of the mill botting software.

Well I’ll be gobsmacked. They actually did it.

I truthfully thought Blizzard would never do something like this and it will be very interesting to see how well they police it. ESO bans it, but people still try to do it. I guess only time will tell.

I’ve always believed that m’boxing isn’t good for the game but I didn’t carry that belief into rant territory. Mostly because I didn’t see it would matter. Apparently Blizzard feels it does matter. Interesting times ahead.
