Policy Update for Input Broadcasting Software

Also, the word you’re looking for is ‘discretion’.

Not really. You get a warning. But think about it… why oh why would blizzard finally out of no where ban multiboxing software. It is because of an very recent and immediate issue. Thats the only explanation. They dont care about what multiboxers have been doing for years

yah it wil be considered an actionable offense… then they updated their multiboxing policy to reflect that they MAY issue a penalty.

Early Christmas present! So happy.

Well, I guess there’s nothing left to say to you except good luck with your rules-lawyering.

I thought about this, my first idea was they are going to introduce something themselves

Its just to bandaid another issue without outright saying they ban the multiboxing software

maybe a feature where theyll “play” your alts for you in dungeons using ai! that would rock lol

That would be interesting lol.

ok they didn’t ban Multiboxing … they banned the software LMAO

If you do the math and do the average of 10 active characters per account per server you’re going to get small numbers. I say 10 since that’s a safe number to work with as it’s in the middle from the max number of character you can have on a server. Then if you do that and sum up all the servers by region, you’ll get an estimate that’s within the median on how many active players there are within a 2 week period.

The fun is running a heroic or mythic by yourself. Wiping for hours until you can manage it. I don’t want AI.

No i just wanted to farm some herbs to level up but with 20 druids eating up every zin’athid i didnt have a chance.

lol all the people saying good decision - multiboxers ruining the economy etc. are the same people buying gold and power leveling haha come on…

It’s an interesting question. I don’t think a decision like this happens overnight; it’s more likely something they have been mulling over for some time. Maybe the inrush of gold farmers over the last year has had something to do with it. I remember seeing an article somewhere about South American players who were suffering financially, especially with Covid, and had discovered how good gold farming could be and how much realworld money it could make them, much more than they could earn otherwise. Perhaps there is some traction to that idea - perhaps all their efforts to date to control it just haven’t been effective. If so, it means that not only are individual longer term mboxing players who simply do it to make themselves some gold suffer along with all the baddies.

But the option would be nice. More options the better.

We’ve examined the use of third-party input broadcasting software, which allows a single keystroke or action to be automatically mirrored to multiple game clients, and we’ve seen an increasingly negative impact to the game as this software is used to support botting and automated gameplay. The use of input broadcasting software that mirrors keystrokes to multiple WoW game clients will soon be considered an actionable offense. We believe this policy is in the best interests of the game and the community.

They literally say they are blocking the use because some bots also use the program

Which, like I have said before, will do nothing to botting because botters are already breaking the rules and dont care if you add more rules.

Of course not, because no player or outside entity can get accurate information. They can make a good guess but who cares about guesses?

Yes I meant the multiboxing pvpers. Sorry.

Thank you, Blizz! Too many people are abusing multiboxing.
