from the article itself “Soon thereafter, the warnings will escalate to account actions, which can include suspension and, if necessary, permanent closure of the player’s World of Warcraft account(s). We strongly advise you to cease using this type of software immediately to maintain uninterrupted access to World of Warcraft” expect to get your account banned permanently if you continue to use such software. note the use of the word WILL. as in they WILL HAPPEN. blizzard isn’t giving you a choice here.
It’s cute you think there are that many multiboxers. Even if every multiboxer cancels all their accounts, it won’t have an appreciable effect on anything, to include Blizzard’s profitability and the in-game economy.
Is it in any danger of falling off the front page?
because usually blizzard stickies their own announcements. its also a pretty important policy change. it takes only 5 seconds and the most basic understanding of how to use moderating tools to sticky a thread. there’s no reason not to.
but you’re going to be rich in SL, right? without all those horrible multiboxers keeping you from wealth?
Thank you for the support. I don’t presume to speak for my whole community - especially since it’s really hard to get a sense of how many of us there are for some strange reason - but I appreciate the Fs in chat here.
Perfectly legal.

Literal Pay to win
Legit jealous of your name buddy. good grab
Thanks for backing me up. Your support is appreciated.
multiboxers owned lmao
You’re going overboard Glaive bro lol. Multiboxing is still allowed and the dev of the software you mentioned will adjust it to fit Blizz’s new criteria.
"They’re not banning you, just figure out a way around the ban and it’ll be fine.
Just like the toxic people will. The system is working as intended."
Or, hot take. Maybe they could just ban the people who are toxic and ruin the game for others, which they already have policies for? I know it’s a radical idea, but it just might work.
This is the equivalent of ‘some people say awful things in trade chat, so we’re banning it for everyone’ rather than, idk. Enforcing their ToS?
Blizz updated their stance on multiboxing after the new news. They very clearly state they are not against multiboxing. Considering multiboxing revolves around software for convenience this tells me that they had some other issue they needed to address (The druid farms in pre patch making 500k an hour) and saying that Keystroke/Mouse software “MAY” be penalized allows them to ban the people abusing the situation while not outright banning the software for those that want to use it for other means. No software has been banned they just updated their stance on the software and say that you can be penalized for it now.
I can only guess at the numbers, but there must be tens of thousands. It’s hardly a negligible figure. For instance, the multi-boxing forums are quite popular with thousands of views on each post, etc. And even if there are only 15,000 multi-boxers - a somewhat reasonable number - with 5-20 accounts each, that adds up to around 1,000,000 a month in lost revenue. Nevermind that many multi-boxers are whales, spending a lot on other services.
It won’t sink WoW by any means, but I imagine they’ll feel the effect.
spending a lot on other services.
Oof
I had to realm transfer around 40 characters over the last 6 months
News has been out for a few hours and its had 17k responses O_o

15 000 out of a couple million. They’re not going to feel much of anything. WoW hasn’t been Blizzard’s cash cow for years.
It took years but you folks finally did it. I know the decision will hurt your immediate subs but I feel it’ll help in the long run since since many people left due to getting fed up with multiboxers.
15 000 out of a couple million.
It’s not 15,000 though it’s 15,000*the number of accounts
