Prepatch is over. I’m kinda sick of seeing an empty city outside the AH.
It feels super weird going into SW and it’s not crowded with peoples and rpers. ><

That sounds bizarre. I’d fly over to check it out, but I’m trying to get through SL stuff.
I’ve noticed this as well. I feel like it might be a combination of both sharding and most players being preoccupied with SL content atm, but honestly, it could be either or
I know, I’ve been thinking about RPing now that I’ve burned through most early Shadowlands stuff.
Not that I’m “done” by any means. I’m loving the expansion content and will continue to play it every day, but I really want to take a step back and relax for a bit. Some RP would be nice, but it seems like Stormwind is absolutely empty.
So is new Dalaran (where everyone was RPing during pre-patch) and I don’t imagine many people are actively RPing inside of the Shadowlands quite yet. Honestly, I’m looking forward to Shadowlands RP too. Shame that everyone is super pre-occupied and/or sharding is damaging the community atm.

I really wish they’d separate trade district from the rest of SW for sharding purposes, I bet that would solve 90% of lag issues and let the city feel lively again.

Glad to see others who plan on RPing within the Shadowlands themselves. I’m hoping Oribos - or at least somewhere else - can become something of a SL RP hub in the near future, but I have my doubts

Yeah, it was strange tonight, I went to SW on an alt. TRP scan showed a fair crowd for the Gnews…I went there, and nobody. Repeated the scan, same result.
Not fun.
I just came here to see if this was a thing… went and checked SW just now too, it’s a bad thing

I hope they remove the sharding soon. On some servers it can be ok - but on an RP server it is very harmful. Yeah, people can group up for RP but so many people love public/walk up RP. Spontaneous events that pop up because of a vibrant living and breathing world.

Yes, there’s no reason for cities to remain sharded on RP servers after the event has been finished.

I’m hoping it gets removed on patch Tuesday but who knows. I put in a post on the customer support forum to get some more visibility on it.

The only way I get my RP is through walk-up. Luckily last night I was able to find someone who was open to walk-ups and had some fun post BfA RP, but otherwise SW is just so shockingly empty.
I like the idea of RPing in Shadowlands but it also seems like a lot of folks are questioning exactly how many Maw Walkers there are. That and I tend to not treat the campaign stuff as IC for Dloin - it is generally just me enjoying the content. But the themes and stuff presented in SL do seem exciting to RP.
I decided to start up this character a week before SL launched, and I’m in a really weird spot being guildless. I am completely cut off from my usual interactions that would bring about a guild without using trade chat or accepting a random invite, and it’s soured my experience slightly being that I’m playing this game entirely by myself at this point.

The sharding in the city is super awful and not conducive at all for making new connections, walk-up RP, etc.
Alicedawford shared the thread on the General Forums which maybe if we bump it enough they’ll see and unshard it.
