Please unbork roleplaying addon issues!

With the latest patch came a change to the way RP servers communicate with certain addons. This has rendered one of the more popular rp addons, TRP ( and TRP extended ) broken. To a lesser extent, another addon, Dicemaster, is also being affected.

As I am unable to post links to screenshots, I’m copying and pasting what the creator of TRP has said about the current issue:

There is currently a major issue with addon comms which will result in a lot of profile or Extended trade transfers failing, either partially or completely. If you see the bottom left loading icon on a tooltip staying on for a long time, it’s likely their profile is stuck in comms limbo. The issue has been reported to Blizzard, sadly there isn’t much we can do on our end about this one but wait.

Regarding the addon comms issue, testing seems to be indicate it’s only affecting Eastern Kingdoms.
Having both players move to another continent should be a workaround if you need to exchange profiles or Extended creations for the time being until the issue gets fixed.

The issue has been reported to Blizzard, sadly there isn’t much we can do on our end about this one but wait.

TRP and Dicemaster are crucial addons to the RP community. One allows not only for other RPers to learn about their character but is also often used as a way to advertise a guild, or sometimes used during roleplay events. Dicemaster is used by guilds or players who host D10/D20 style events, easier and in some cases possible.

Will life go on without the changes being reverted? Yes. Of course it will. But will it make things more difficult for the roleplaying community from now on? Yes. Absolutely. With major cross server events such as Tournament of Ages on the horizon, these current changes will make running it much more difficult.

Please revert or fix the recent changes affecting these addons. Your fellow roleplaying community will DEEPLY appreciate it.

Remember, some of your current staff started off as roleplaying nerds.

I agree. They really need to up their addon support. Addons after all are part of what keep us playing by adding spice to the game.

I understand the need to limit addon transmissions with one another in a competitive environment. The last time this happened though, Blizzard resolved to utilize this restriction in instanced content where all competitive content takes place. I do not understand why this was extended to the Overworld.

This has created an air of frustration in the Roleplay community. I spent two hours last night waiting for TRP to load the data of two people I was RPing with and we weren’t anywhere close to anyone else that might add to the buffering queue and extend that time. It was just us three.

Please reverse this or seek a means of allowing certain addons through this limit.

Yeah having TRP not load well is really making things irritating around Stormwind. Everything was fine with the addon before the patch but really we need this fixed. Still like Silkië stated this addon also helps to build guilds and advertise community made in-game events!

There be another HUGE group RP event coming up called World’s Faire Carnival that is not only a blast since TRP enriches the environment for the RPers but it also draws a huge crowd that donates to certain charities like Doctors Without Borders (which was last years charity pick). Not helping addons that bring the community together is a bad move, plain and simple. Really hoping they find a fix for this soon!

This is an issue I encountered today.

I just got back into the hobby after six years of absence. Discovering this is a newly-arriving problem is absolutely disheartening.

If this doesn’t get fixed, it’s going to deal a mortal wound to the community. One I’m not sure we have a ready way to heal.

What’s more concerning is apparently this issue came up last year and there was a lot of hoopla, but now there’s nothing.
