Please stop with all of the LGBTQ/BLM posts

Transfemme here, I believe I am talking for the majority of us, we don’t necessarily want more representation, and just want to be like everyone else. We don’t need special titles, pride flags as a back transmog (that might be a little cool but thats besides the point)

I see numerous posts about this subject, at least once a day, and they honestly need to stop. Speaking for who I can speak for, and I would imagine everyone in the BLM stuff, more representation isn’t great all the time.

Many play the game to escape from politics and everything else in the world, and adding pride/BLM stuff would remove that escape for many. While yes, discrimination, along with others things, is a huge issue irl, minor representation in wow won’t do anything to fix those issues.

So anyways, we don’t really need representation, a charity event going to a lgbtq/blm organization would be helpful and actually get irl things to change, but we really don’t need much in game. Be nice in here folks

I mean, as a gay, obviously queer man, you don’t speak for me. And while I don’t really think having special indicators in-game is all that necessary, I don’t think that’s the problem most people are really having.

I think the problem is that we’re very obviously not welcome in the broader community, some of us can really feel that, and it definitely shows when someone creates a post that indicates they have an interest in LGBTQ+ rights and Black Lives Matter.

If Blizzard isn’t interested in doing this stuff, then they just won’t, it’s no other poster’s business to tell people what they can or can’t talk about if it isn’t against the TOS. You absolutely can just keep scrolling.
Where I take issue is how people respond. Why does it inflame people so much to know they share a space with people who are LGBT or POC? That’s something worth reflecting on.

As a cute, adorable, very smol and lovable gnome with a teeny little flower hat… I forgot where I was going with this, but now I feel good about myself!

Gnomes are so cute

I suspect that the broader community cares 100x more about your RIO than who you sleep with.

This right here^

I remember not long ago some morons using titles like Womanx or Menx to differentiate Trans people, not only does it sound bloody stupid but the trans community themselves hated it.

They have also tried stupid stuff like Latinx which every single Latino would punch you in the face if you were to call them that.

Never assume you speak on the behalf of anyone that isn’t yourself

It’s not a good look for anyone

Did you just speak for me?

Greetings!! I am so glad to see someone who actually wants to be equal/treated the same/left alone speak up.

The problem is the same problem every other group of people/race/gender/ect … has. The screaming minorities always overshadow the quiet majority. There’s just not much you can do about it. Especially when it comes to hot-topics (man just had an ‘I miss the mall’ moment :open_mouth: ).

I feel your pain as many of the groups I am a part of are the same way. So many people speak like they are talking for the majority … when, in fact THEY are the minorities.

Never thought I would see the day where I actually miss seeing High Elf threads.

And to all you folks hollering about “You don’t speak for me”. The OP explicitly states …

The word believe indicates best-guess/theory. It indicates that the person using it understands that it isn’t a provable fact and therefore understands they aren’t speaking for everyone. So chill out crazies …

I think if you make some people more equal than others then you’re no longer dealing with equality.

Did you just assume I was replying to op?

I agree 100% just cause your a special flower in life doesn’t mean you need a special boat with a flag explaining your xynz. This is World of Warcraft let’s get back to the story and gameplay people. Love yourself and express yourself in RL.

I agree that these threads need to stop. There is way too many, and a lot of them are just clearly bait posts. Everyone knows if you put LGBT+ into the title of your thread you will get 100+ responses within the hour. It is the easiest way to get fake internet attention.

I am Trans, and I am old enough to have actually fought for my state’s right to legalize gay marriage before it became a federal thing. In our real world, being treated less than for being LGBT was a thing we had to fight against. In Azeroth, its a thing that doesn’t exist. While there aren’t many LGBT characters in the world, there has never been a narrative specifically against their existance.

As such, any kind of pride events, pride mogs/items/pets/mounts do not fit narratively, because there is no “Pride” in Azeroth, because Azerothean homosexuals have not had to fight for their right to exist. In a sense, Azeroth is what we should strive to be IRL.

That said I do agree with more “representation” if done well. The Ardenweald quest was great. That’s subtle. If one of them was changed to a female the story wouldn’t change one bit. That’s good representation. They should add more, and it doesn’t need to be in your face. Throw a couple female orcs in an inn and have one of them say something like “See my wife if you need anything” and bam. done. Subtle representation not thrown in your face or paraded around to show people how woke Blizz is. I’d also be in favor of a more main character being LGBT+ but again as long as it’s done well. Suddenly making Jaina gay for the sake of representation is awful.

But I am getting so sick of these threads, and so sick of LGBT+ people speaking for me. Even OP while I agree with most of their thread does not speak for me. I am quite capable of speaking for myself.

Not only will forced representation ruin the game for both LGBT+ and not, all of these threads and the arguments they create are doing more harm than good by swinging the pendulum back to us being hated. I’m having more issues now with being trans than I ever did before, because now everyone I talk to, if they find out I’m trans (I don’t usually tell anyone, no one needs to know) get terrified of offending me. I’ve lost friends just because they felt too much pressure to not be accidently offensive, because the whole world has them on edge.

Everyone needs to just chill the f out and go about their daily lives. If we want to get Blizz to add more (well done) representation, then use the feedback form in the game, tweet at them, start a reddit community, start an in game community, email them, do whatever, but focus your energy on talking to Blizz, not screaming into the echo chamber that is the forums and stirring up hate and arguments.

To end this, some things I would like to see:

Maybe one charity thing that supports something like the Trevor Project, or something similar that actually does good in the world. Maybe like the one now for the sloth, if enough $$ is raised we get a pride cape, or a pride outfit for our pug, something small, something supportive.

And I would like a bit more representation. Not overkill, not in your face. Subtle. Well written, where the story doesn’t revolve around the fact that they are LGBT but is just referenced by calling someone wife/husband.

And lastly I would like to see these threads stop. Chill out. Focus your energy elsewhere, to someplace where it can actually make a difference.

Not that my opinion matters. I cancelled my sub and returned to ESO. I just troll the forums when bored at work until my sub expires next week. :coffee:

I agree 100% if someone opens with I am (insert religion, sexual orientation, political views or anything else controversial) I often want to say cool, does that better your gameplay or add stats?

The few I encountered and I mean few like probably 5 over the years, I just avoided like the plague. You know when they open with any of those things they are just looking for an argument.

Sadly, this statement includes pretty much everything anymore from political affiliation to religion to their position on pineapple as a pizza topping. It’s just the way modern culture is.

I want a future where posts like this, and many others don’t exist, because people have learned to co-exist and get along with one another and work together for a brighter sunrise for the world.

Please, let it begin with us.

No I’m pretty sure a ton of people have posted the reason and it’s not for the reason you claim or think.

You just won’t listen.

Did you maybe think that people don’t want all these real life things that obviously sparks uproars on both sides to be now brought into our video game where many of us use this to escape the real world and not have these issues on our mind taking a toll on us and just have fun in-game ignoring real life issues going on?

I am all for BLM as I have some close friends who are African American and I am all for the LGBT community and support both 110%. But just like politics, I don’t want this stuff in game or be forced in-game. If there are budding relationships be it male/femal, male/male or female/female then cool, as long as it doesn’t feel forced to please certain communities.
