I’ve been looking at the Shadowlands covenant armour sets, the mail sets (that are available) look like trash. To make a mail set, it seems Blizzard takes the plate set, takes things away (a shoulder piece, cool helm, no shoes) and then makes it look like a garbage questing set. What the heck guys, come on.

Yep. We have to cry in a corner with our hideous armor while Warlocks and Warriors flaunt the best looking sets in the game.

I dunno dude… when something looks just ok on a human male, that usually means it’s going to look terribad for the other races.
Except female orcs. Blizzard designs armor around these two combos.

You know, I actually just made a thread on this over in the Transmog forums and now I wonder if it would have been better had I posted it over here in the General Discussion forums instead.
Anyway, I kind of agree. Mail armor certainly has its stand out sets but for the most part I feel like it gets the scraps left behind from Leather and Plate and often just feels kinda “Meh” and lacking in the “Mail” department as if they don’t know what to do with the stuff.
I would love to see more Chain and even Ring Mail if I am being honest, more of a focus on those aesthetics and then build upon that instead of a lot of what we get.
I am not saying that all Mail armor is bad, and we certainly have a surplus of “Scale Mail” but I feel like it could be better and feel like Plate ends up getting a lot of the cool “Mail” designs.

Honestly, just remove mail at this point. They clearly have no inspiration for it and furthermore, there is no reason why Shamans or Hunters would wear it, AND there is no reason either why shamans and hunters would dress similarly. It’s wrong on so many levels.

Ehhh some of it.
It’s a hold over from the Dungeon and Dragon (EverQuest) franchise. Rangers and Shamans wear mail. A lot of the original devs came from EverQuest.

Really? I thought Covenant Mail actually came out pretty dang good - at least compared to plate in most cases.

Good post.
Set looks really good on Worgen IMO, which is surprising considering how awful most sets look on them. Leather set looks like I’m wearing a dog cone, I’d love to be able to wear mail just for this.

That’s the only one that looks “okay” in my opinion, and I don’t really want to choose that covenant. Who knows.
When I see armor that good looking I try to imagine how it is going to look on a worgen or tauren. It will be either an over stretched helmet or a really small helmet covering a tiny part of their head.

It looks descent except for that hat. I wish Blizzard would make hats with tauren and worgen in mind.

Probably difficult to design helmets for them with how different the head shape is from other races. In this case I actually think it works well, at least compared to usual.
