Please stop with all this over the top extremely over-tuned new affixes, including Explosive Orbs. The REAL “feedback” has been from players for YEARS to remove Explosive Orbs. Now you are over-tuning all this to the moon so later you can act like “listening to players feedback” and tone it down to exactly where YOU want.
Two things you have completely ignored for YEARS.
Remove Fortified/Tyrannical, rather than Seasonal Affixes.
Remove Explosive Orbs.
Acting time is OVER, it’s time to act for real.

Wow! I posted this before the news of 10.1 release announcement and my concerns were only proven right.
I’m sure I’ll get called a shill for this, but I don’t mind tyrannical and fortified. Also, I think their concept of fewer explosive orbs with higher HP is pretty good, BUT they need to adjust their HP and spawn rate to make it manageable.
the issue with explosive is, now people will just let them go off. and let the healer heal it. There isnt any reason to kill them. If it one shots, we will just kite packs to LOS them. The affix just doesnt work.
In my opinion, that is ok. A big part of M+ is using your group composition to overcome the challenges presented by the combination of dungeon mechanics and affixes…if your group’s solution is to just let them blow up, then that’s fine. Same thing with LoS.
If anything, explosive will become an easier and less tedious affix than it was in the past.
Have you seen their new health pools? Even after being nerfed slightly the only way to have a group comp to beat them is having a bunch of ST burst classes and save CDs for when they start popping.
Could be solved by adding a temporary damage/healing buff for killing an orb. Not sure why they haven’t already done this. But yeah, the 10.1 change is booty.
Yeah, and that feedback is irrelevant. They can change how the affix works without removing it entirely. Which is what it looks like they’re doing. It remains to be seen if they further modify the hp of the orbs so that killing them is actually feasible, but it’s incredibly stupid to look at like one day of people testing new affixes and conclude that that’s how they’re going live.
They do listen to feedback. That doesn’t mean they’re obligated to actually implement every player’s whim.
Do the devs not play the game? How can players take huge issue with one day of testing but not a single wow dev stopped and thought maybe that’s not good in the weeks of development/planning??
Yeah, 298K on a +15 and 480K on a +20. So that means that it will take 37K DPS for 8 seconds to kill it on +15…which comes to 12.5K per DPS party member. For a +20 its 60K DPS over 8 seconds…that’s 20K per DPS party member. Those are not “popping cooldowns” DPS numbers.
That’s not really that crazy when you do the math for one orb, especially with the higher season 2 ilvls. I do think they need to change the spawn rates, though.
You never considered that they were testing to see how players reacted to explosives basically being guaranteed to go off? Of course not. It’s always the “durrr da devs must be stupid!!!” assumption.
That makes absolutely zero sense. So in their infinite wisdom, they make the orbs unkillable to test players reactions but then put it in the PTR so they cause a ton of outrage in the player base.

Please. They know full well that the WoW player base gets outraged over literally everything. That’s irrelevant.
As for them being initially unkillable. Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was exactly their intention. It’s much easier to go from “too much hp” to a manageable level than the other way around. Especially if their goal was to see at what threshold players would consider killing them to be the play, instead of just letting them explode.
Only one of these I have a problem with is tyrannical , it doesnt have to be a 30%, it literally takes 1 auto attack to kill explosive orbs basically I have no problem dealing with them as any role with no macros, people are just lazy and don’t want to swap targets because they want to tunnel vision
I think the biggest change that needs to happen for explosive, Incorporal, and afflicted, is their spawn rate needs to be based off being in combat and not the number of mobs.
They should also spawn based on player location not mob location because some bosses are causing them to spawn super far away from everything (Uldaman).
The news of Patch 10.1 just further proves my point. What a HORRIBLE state are we in when Blizz too (just like every other major gaming studio) keeps releasing content in broken and unfinished condition only then take months to “fix” stuff.
If the affixes were ‘fun’, I might try to find a group to do M+ with but they only had like one major patch since Legion that had ‘fun’ or interesting affixes.
Unfortunately it is for the esport community… and after reading some responses from blues on interviews etc, they seem pretty detached from reality.
