Please stop adding changes to classic era

It’s funny that I enjoyed that the first time around with the elemental invasions (or w/e they were called) and DW randomly appearing to torch zones but when the world was remade it wasn’t familiar and was pretty jarringly changed so I can see how that would turn people off.

Generally if Blizzard has made changes/qol adds if there is the ability to opt out of using/seeing it I’ve been fine with it. Joyous Journeys annoys the heck out of me but I can turn it off. I like being allowed the agency to do that.

Ultimately I am not yours or Blizzard’s target audience. I am tooling around in Azeroth for a couple hours a week just having fun. It’s familiar enough to me even with the adjustments that I can still bliss out/wind down after the day. That’s a change from 2019 when the nostalgia hype was real for me. But after some experiences in pug raids in TBCC (trying to catch up a character or two for my guild) and the absolute fiasco of Wrath Reforged, this fantasy is winding down and I will be gone for good within the next couple of months. Absolutely zero interest in pirate servers and now interest is approaching zero in Blizzard’s reimagined game. That’s cool though because with the changes they’ve made perhaps that will entice others to stay or join the fun.

Best of luck to you and hope that you can find your fun with Blizzard despite the modernization.

We are on the same server cluster. If you’d like to team up sometime, would be cool. I’m loosely apart of vigilantes. i did my first raid in vanilla at large with them.

I have to agree. There attempts to make WOTLK more appealing to vanilla fans didn’t work.

This was before SoD. Let SoD be the testing ground, keep each new expansion as close to it’s original version as possible.

I understand your premise and, for the most part, I agree. I’m not in the no changes camp but I do think that being extremely wary is the right course of action.

For the UI change though, I agree with Blizzard’s premise that this is something almost everybody uses an addon for and it was a small change so that people didn’t have to go get an addon. You said yourself that you don’t like addons, you’re not alone in this, so it’s a good change… provided they give you, one of the few who don’t want cast-bars visible, have options.

Which I think you do… and I don’t think they’re enabled by default. I’m playing Era with a friend right now and she doesn’t see the cast bars, so it must be something you opted into at some point. Maybe check out the settings?

Anyway, other changes I’m not a fan of, or don’t think they’re the right place. I think what they did with WotLK was really cool, but it didn’t belong in that version of the game and should have been saved for a Classic+ iteration. Mind you, I also think they should be leaving WotLK Era servers behind and they aren’t doing that either.

Side note, out of curiosity, if there was a minimalist addon that actually made the game have less information and/or more challenging to play, would you be interested? Is playing with no UI the next hardcore challenge that will swarm Era servers? I don’t think I would want to play that way but it could be interesting!

We crying about basic UI additions now? People use add-ons for this anyway. Get a grip.

Most Addons objectively make the game easier.

I think out of the box with no extra interface options the ui is very minimal; no nameplates and the like make for an immersive experiance. I cant cover all your points; cuz, i just woke up, but i do appreciate the input.

Then I will look forward to seeing you in the game. I have a number of alts from 20 to 60. If you need help with anything, pst. : ) Made you a friend so I’ll know when you’re on. Have a great day.

Sounds good. All in good time Reginald, all in good time.

We all must accept change. Im working on that in irl. I hate that i have to accept change in a game thats not supposebto change. But it is a lesson as is all things.

As a note i do use 2 addons, i use console port and voiceover classic those addons are fun for me, id sacrifice them in heart beat for the baning addons but i do enjoy playing with a ps4 controller on the couch and standing in front of the npc while they talk to me; i helps make questing a bit more fun. Lol i know it comes down to personal preferance, but alot of addons just make it easier for people to play the game machincally.

Yea. No one cares. Get over it.

IF they had made all changes OPTIONAL fine with me, But they have not done so. I cannot NOT see FP markers, countdowns, people mounting on ships, CARETS (Dang blast them), open all mail buton, now and then Quest helper arrows, Realms names in inappropriate places, wrong animations, get up automatically on doing anything, … you can continue the list.

Agree!!!

I’d be happy with an addon giving me back WoW as it was in Vanilla, no more, no less.
I have an addon removing the open all mail. I’d only give this up if all changes were reverted. I hate having my bag filled up because of a misclick.

I care too, Just use your addons and let us who don’t enjpy the Vanilla version.

Nah. Looks like blizz agrees with me too, so :person_shrugging:

Every day.
I’m so Abe.

I get this. I truly do.
There are things that irk me not gonna lie but to be able to have the old, un-cataclysm’d world back even with imperfections is a win.

Kinda stopped right here… this is such a minor thing to cry about considering everyone and their mother already had an add-on for it. This doesn’t damage the game at all, it only helps people out without needing the add-on.

I believe the angst is over the ‘slippery slope’ type of change. When does it stop?

Probably when they do something that isn’t something that helps accessibility. Such as spell scaling/drop rates/etcetc.

I’m a leveler too. There are more of us than you think. TBC was made easier than Vanilla, yet it is still a harder grind than WotLK+. And TBC kept most, if not all, of the flavor of Classic Era (making your own poisons, Flint/Tinder, etc.).

At least you have a server to play on. I’m still hoping they create a TBC and WotLK server after Cata comes out. I know, it is a long shot.
