This wrecks my damage rotation as feral in pvp. Taking the 3 second pounce talent. I would pounce, shred, PS, mangle, shred, rip. Now its just pounce shred, PS, mangle rip. They took a shred completely out.
Must be blizzard forcing to make people use rake.
I was planning to main feral druid so that I could be a tank and a dps for my raid group as needed. Bear tanking is a pretty boring, but a decent part of what I enjoyed about cat dps as I brought my druid up to speed in classic was powershifting. This change, coming so late during the beta cycle, sucks. The lack of being able to time energy ticks removes a skill cap and slows down the gameplay to a clunky place.
But it mostly sucks cause now I am rethinking my main choice in a tight raid comp environment…
I’m not even playing a druid and I support you guys to keep your spec to be fun to play <3
Blizz you give ally paladins seal of blood, let seal twisting and totem twisting stay in the game, but you won’t let one of the most fun and entertaining ways to play feral stay? Not to mention hurting our dps on an already low tier dps spec? Powershifting is essential for druids, nerfing the energy ticks is souring a lot of ferals.
Please save us kitties

I’d love to be able to play the spec I’ve mained since p1.
alliance getting seal of blood isnt a paladin buff, its bringing alliance paladins in line with horde.
seal twisting was in original vanilla, tbc, and wow classic. they decided to lower the spell batch window which would have removed it. the seal twist change was more in line with #nochanges.
totem twisting also existed in original vanilla and tbc. its not even an unintended mechanic.
the energy tic fix pushed today is making the spec work like it did in the later patches of tbc.
for the record. rets put up a hell of a fight trying to get blizz to allow bi-directional seal twisting. not only did it fall on deaf ears, but prety much everyone that wasnt ret came out of the woodworks to say “hell no” as if their 2 cents mattered. now you want to use us as an example to #somechanges yourself?
and last, this nerf doesnt even remove powershifting. you will still do it and you will still wear your wolfshead. its literally just a numbers change
i guess i hope you guys get it, but i wouldnt hold my breath. and try not to be disingenuous
You’re right, we still will wear wolfshead helm and we still will powershift. It’s not “disingenuous” to state the facts: this implementation of energy tick rate substantially slows down the feral rotation (as well as the dps).
Personally, the flow of the rotation is a large part of why I found feral enjoyable, and is why I personally want this reverted. It’s not just that it’s a numbers change.
The energy tick behavior as it existed on classic was also present on TBC until it was broken in the ZA patch in 2.2; “no changes” and “some changes” are not relevant discussion points. Both systems existed; we prefer the system that is more enjoyable.
Curious, as with the others posting this sentiment. Would you be in the same camp if a change were made as such:
Casting a Balance spell leaves a buff on the player that increases attack speed by (X%) for (Y Seconds) when shifting into cat form.
Casting a Restoration spell leaves a buff on the player that increases damage done by (X%) for (Y Seconds) when shifting into cat form.
While not as quick and easy as the simple powershifting, it would emphasize the hybrid qualities (Even if only ever a moonfire and a rejuv for example), but also offer slight benefits to other players while giving buffs in cat form. Just… random thoughts that popped in during this thread, but I do wonder if other druids would see this as neat.
(I have a druid at 60 currently, just posting on this warrior cause it was my main before, and swapping which character shows was a pain last time. More effort than is worth the few times I come to the forums.)
Edit: Deleted double-post above. Something went messy and it split.
Don’t write off healing, yaknow.
Blizzard please give us some kind of response on this so we can better understand your rationale behind the many changes to this on beta the past two weeks. It would be super helpful to also understand what final state you intend to leave feral druid cat form energy in for all of TBC so we can plan accordingly.
Agreed. I hate that we are once again choosing the less fun approach for the sake of patch authenticity. This is already not a direct copy of TBC and had plenty of changes. I just want to play the game and have fun, not suffer through bad (and potentially unintentional) decisions made over 10 years ago.
I also want to add my voice to the chorus to show how meaningful a Blue response is to us.
I am also a day 1 Classic player that grew to love the powershifting rotation as I got better and better at it. Hearing that the rotation is going to be slower is a real downer on my future enjoyment of my class. The DPS loss is an unnecessary gut punch, but I didn’t play a druid for the DPS. I play it because I enjoy how it feels to play it.
It feels wrong that that this change so pointedly affects only one particular class and spec’s enjoyment of the game while not providing a meaningful or tangible benefit to any other class or spec.
This decision–while not a bug–only negatively affects a group of the player base while not positively affecting anyone else and I ask that Potionsellr’s suggestions be considered.
Please, Blizz, say anything.
Make the wolf’s head into a metagem that always gives 20 energy on shift and sometimes gives 40 energy. problem solved.
You would legit have to increase it by 150%
I have been excited and hyped to finally play this style of feral druid, been waiting for months on end and been prepping in classic to dive right into TBC. If you can change other classes like pally for seal twisting, please allow ferals to have the game play they wish for and desire. The change makes no sense where as reverting it allows us to stay some what viable and play the version of the game we have all been looking forward to.
Why do you always dunk on ferals ?
Save us Holinka!!!
TBC Classic… Let the feral druids run rampant!
