Please revert feral hotfix/use 2.0 energy [FIXED, ty Blizz!]

Powershifting became a very fun and engaging part of playing a feral druid in classic. PLEASE make any change that will make the druid rotation less awkward in TBC.

It would help many people with their plans if a CM weighed in one way or the other. Thanks!

How is it necessary if cat DPS is already on the low-end? This unintentional change came from the buff on evocation and innervate casting. It isn’t like cat DPS is overly represented in the community to start with. Powershifting is a core part of a cat’s rotation in order to compete with other classes on DPS. Powershifting came as early as 2007 from other forum posts, it would be a shame if they changed it now.

#FIX THE TICK

Please just apply the “some changes” philosophy to ferals and give the feral druid community this non gamebreaking fix to restore enjoyment to playing the class.

/signed I would really like to see this changed.

Dev’s, please do not allow this unintended side effect of mana regeneration neuter the cats! The powershift play style is one of the most fun and engaging DPS play styles available in classic. Please allow that to be true for TBC as well.

/signed Please revert the tic. We are not asking to be better then the other melee dps. We ARE asking to be able to compete with them again.

Please blizzard. We don’t have an active streamer, we don’t have twitter accounts with 50,000+ followers.

But please, anyone who has authority who is reading this, just GIVE US SOMETHING, PLEASE!

Even if its a “Its aware, we’re discussing options”

Please Blizzard, even that would be a massive W

We just want #SomeChanges to have vanilla powershifting, where energy ticks are not reset when entering cat form.

This was an unintended change due to a buff on evocation, innervate, and adrenaline rush. In original TBC this change was not present for most of the expansion. Powershifting cat druid is very unique and fulfilling to play but suffers in this condition. It’s just not fun.

In what sense is this small? In what sense is this necessary? By which ferals is this welcome?

It’s not small: It adds at least a second to our rotation. Would adding a second to the cast time of shadowbolt be small? Would adding a second to the cast time of steady shot be small?

It’s not necessary: Feral DPS is not at the top at any point in TBC. The playstyle we had was fun for those of us who played it. It was also viable, while this pushes feral DPS to the lowest bounds of viability. Necessary how, again?

/signed Revert the tic and save the cats or up Furor energy.

I bet we will see cats getting kick out of raids for not being able to keep up on dps charts. #catswillbetheretpallysofclassicintbc

My understanding from Tharfor’s blue post back in 2007 following the server tick change in patch 2.2 is that it was supposed to be a QoL for abilities such as Evocation and Innervate to not have “wasted” ticks, that had the unfortunate and unintended effect of nerfing feral DPS because devs at the time didn’t know about this emergent gameplay.

Nowadays, powershifting is a very well known mechanic and an essential part of the cat rotation. And this energy system, while it is indeed coherent with the 2.4.3 reference client, negatively affects a much larger portion of the community than it did back in 2007.
Not only does it needlessly decrease the damage output of an hybrid class that is already performing worse than “pure DPS” classes, but more importantly it greatly affects the fun of playing the class because it bricks the flow of the rotation and the pace of the gameplay that we have grown to love.

Similarly to retribution paladins benefiting from a custom change to let them seal twist and to maintain the fun factor of their original rotation in spite of a client change - in this case reducing the batch window - I think it would be more than fair that feral would also benefit from #SomeChanges to preserve their fun rotation because the original nerf back in 2007 was also an unintended, collateral damage of a client change that was supposed to be a QoL for the community.

Patrick Dawson said this in an interview during Blizzcon:

With Classic, people would bring things up and we would do a deep dive and be like, ‘Hey, this is exactly how it works.’ And they’re like, ‘Okay, but that’s not what I remember’… With Burning Crusade, rather than have us just answer ‘this is how it was’, the question is, well, what do you think it should be? And we’ll listen. Because ultimately, we’re making a game for the people that want to play it.

Blizzard, this is the time to respect your engagement to the Classic community. This change is not fun, this change is not what we want to see and this change does not make us want to play your game. You asked to know what we think it should be and what is fun to us, this is our answer. Give us back the Classic energy system. Let us powershift. Let us enjoy our fast paced and engaging rotation again.
