If and only if they choose to un-nerf it, it will be after they add dragonriding to the rest of the world but if they do that, they will have to make regular mounts go just as fast as dragon riding.
Heck even when we go into the next expansion after Dragonflight, regular mounts will have to have their speed increased to match the Dragonriding speeds. No one will want to go to a new expansion after Dragonflight and go back to old mount speeds after what Dragonriding offers.
I’ve been doing the same thing. I dont know how many “white knights” realize this, but the complaint that most of us are making is that Soar is a dead racial in the expansion it’s introduced in. It may be “twice as fast” (debatable, but not gonna get into it) in old world content, but it’s also 60% speed of what all other players will be using, for free, with no cooldown, on the dragon isles.
Most of us would just be happy to have Soar be cosmetic Dragonriding in the same way that Running Wild is cosmetic Ground Mounts, and Flight Form is cosmetic (albiet a bit better than) Flying Mounts. Leave the nerfed version of soar and/or give drakthyr a standard flying mount racial for past-expansion content, but allow us to benefit from all of the dragonriding perks (no CD, max speed, vigor, and talents, etc.) anywhere that -all players- have the ability to dragonride.
From a lore standpoint, Evokers are supposed to be ‘elite soldiers created by Neltharion.’ The idea that they’d be slower and with less endurance than the protodragons they were created to fight is bad class/race fantasy. Little dragon being forced to ride big dragon is bad class/race fantasy.
And from a balance standpoint, making Soar be cosmetic dragonriding is not an advantage over other players when it’s simply a different skin over the exact same gameplay.
