Because “Week 3” isn’t “later”. It’s “barely started”.
Did you actually miss the part where I said every two weeks i can play 8-10 hours per day for 4 days straight, but I cannot play for 30 minutes per day each and every day?
Either you’re trolling or being a complete jerk, either way, you seem to be missing the point that I can put the same effort to play, I just cannot be present at the computer daily.
Again Here We go with this argument. We went through this several times this expansion and with BfA and yes, even legion. It was with covenants and covenant swapping. It was with azerite farming. And it was with artifact power farming. It has happened time and time again.
There are the defenders. The ones who carry this odd Baby Boomer work mentality about it. “I log on every day and I do my chores every day, so I am better than you and you are just lazy.” And that “If you want to play this game, you should be able to do the daily chores, or just accept that you will fall behind.”
Then what inevitably happens, is Blizzard has to patch in a retraction of requirements, just to make the content more accessible, as people begin to drop off due to having a negative gameplay experience. It has happened every time. People just want the game to be accessible to their schedules. People who can only play 1 or 2 days a week, want the ability to grind 8 hours or more on that day to get caught up to people who can log on 1 hour 7 days a week. Its that simple. The time requirement is the same, its just that people want a way to do it on their own time.
This argument will inevitably turn into people saying “Ohh then we should just log in and get BIS gear in the mail.” But no one is asking for that. They simply want a way to choose how to invest their time available. They are not asking for the amount of time needed to be changed. And the Boomer Attitude of “Well if you cant do it the way we do it, then you shouldnt do it at all.”
SEE already started.
Blizzard will probably change the rep requirement or means to acquire the rep in 9.2.5. Or they will just have the belt and the memory unlock at the same time. I will say I am getting tired of these steps by Blizzard. They put in barriers, and time gates and limitations on systems. The player base gets tired of them, or stops playing because they dont want to engage with them. Then Blizzard backtracks and removes them and adds in catch-up systems, negating a large portion of the grind. Which angers the other group of players, who did the original grinds.
He’s reiterated this same point about 20 times. It’s just not sticking…
No? You’re just a few weeks behind. Keep playing and you will be back to where everyone else is too. Nobody is calling you a villain lmao
The same effort of getting the rep to the appropriate level? Like everyone else did?
Except that I said I can play 8 to 10 hours per day, 4 days in a row. That’s about 40 hours every two weeks i can play, just grouped up into 4 days instead of over 14 days.
Maybe you’re the one with old fuzzy velcro for clothes while people are trying to throw tennis balls at you…
Good lord, surely you are not that dense that you cannot recognize an exaggerated comparison???
No wait, what am I saying. I’ve seen your comments and they answer that question fully.
That’s not what I understood.
What the OP is asking really seems like a logical, reasonable ask. It’s different from what we are conditioned with how Reputation has been handled in the past, but its not a far fetched request either.
Lets say I play the game for 30 minutes a day and after 4 weeks I am Revered. Why can’t someone who who just stepped into Zerith Mortis today not be able to play for exactly 14 hours straight and reach the same place as I am?
They’re putting in exactly the same amount of effort, they are just electing to do the effort in a very different way from which I did, but its the same time spent either way.
I see no harm in that and I think its a reasonable ask. It makes these systems less rigid, it makes the time gating less rigid for people who more confined scheduled than others, but no one is getting a free ride. The same effort is the same effort, its just how they get there is different from how we did.
Seems reasonable to me.
Because then the people who need people to be beneath them so they can feel “special and powerful or fancy” wouldn’t have people who are beneath them to make them feel special, powerful, or fancy that they have something someone else doesn’t have.
People like that don’t play this game for their own enjoyment, they do it because it’s the only social life they really have or the only way they can have some kind of social standing in their life.
It’s basic humanity at it’s worst, unfortunately.

yes. I do log in every day, and no, I don’t think someone who is absent for weeks should be able to quickly catch up to me.
and it is. the thing this OP is complaining about? 100% stupid in this case.
The unity belt is unlocked merely by doing the storyline, no rep required. Someone can be absent for the entire patch, come back the day that chapter unlocks, grind out the storyline and bam, game hands him a belt.
let me play my tiny violin for the guy in 233 questing greens not being able to optimize his character by crafting a 291 day 1 the unity leggo is available, and having to suffer through the indignity of using a 265 legendary instead.
awful. that’s just awful. ![]()
if OP wants to make an argument for weeklies, rather than dailies, that’s a fair argument to make, but wrapping it around a complaint that he can’t craft a legendary he doesn’t need and the belt the game will give him won’t be optimized, well he just muddied up the argument he could have been making with a bunch of nonsense.
Honestly, and I’m not trying to be a jerk, if you waited this long to start the patch you’re probably not doing content that requires two BiS legendary items next week.
You can get by with the free belt for a week or two while you finish the rep grind.
We did not have a system like this in MoP. MoP removed the daily cap so you could burn yourself out on dailies instead of picking between what you wanted to do.
I am all for catch up systems for people that are months and months behind but three weeks is just not something I can get behind. Now, I will say they did make rep horrible to get.
I also don’t think its right to immediately jump to that assumption either. You hurt your argument when you do this as well. Perhaps they simply didn’t follow what you said and need a relative example to make the connection.
I played my butt off to get revered before the last chapter in ZM. So should the rest of ya
Maybe this just isnt the game for the OP.
If you really cant play it that often that this is a major reoccurring issue for you, maybe a different game is up your alley
I think the only thing that needed to be done is give us 3 non tier slot choices for unity. Belt, boots, or cape/wrists. Restricting it to solely a belt does screw over a few people (like me) who are forced to either pay to change to a different slot (in my case a tier slot) or go without (which should not be acceptable).
The fact you missed out on 3 weeks of rep? Your fault. I’d be 100% on board with rares giving a ton more rep and having a weekly “rep max” you can earn, but that isn’t the case so we deal with what we have. If you honestly can’t find a 30 minute window to knock out 2-3 world quests per day, then the issue isn’t with the game…fix your life. You also didn’t need to do the world quests everyday and still be revered. I myself am over 3k into revered and the only special thing I did was wait for DMF to come around before turning in patterns in patterns and making sure I got a 2nd buff the following Tuesday/Wednesday when the quest reset and I did it again. I also missed a day or so of some quests because of a funeral from out of state. I also don’t live in ZM hunting down every rare I can. If one is around me when I’m doing my quests and I feel up to it, I go kill it and some I just avoid altogether or feel lazy and not go for. There have been several days where all I literally did was go and knock out the world quests because that was all I had time for.
ah, I guess I misremembered how it was set up, which is no surprise as I have a terrible memory lol thanks for clarifying!
this would have been a great way to do it. idk why they locked it to belt.
So I push keys on my main and I tend to knock out between 8 and 15 keys on my days off which is 4 days once every two weeks. You’re suggesting my time is less valuable because you’re not taking into consideration my playstyle or schedule.
Just because I play 4 days every two weeks, does not mean I’m not pushing higher keys on my mains in group finder. Group finder is actually all I can play with because I can’t play regularly with my schedule or with the same groups.
So is the apparent lack of respect and appreciating in our generation because children have never really had to sacrifice anything. Hopefully one day you never will have to.
I am also not a soldier, but involved in the medical field in coordination with red cross, etc.
I havent even played everyday and I am almost revered
Quite simply, and you’re not going to like this, and using your example, they don’t want people to hit revered 14 hours into the patch.
Time gating is term that is annoyingly overused here, but it’s the economics of creating a game of this size.
