True. I mean I can see a GOOD tool having use. Specifically when trying to form a raid or something. But hands down RDF is the best thing for party sized game play.
current tool needs auto-queue, or give us orig.
Auto queue up makes a lot of sense. RDF does that.
In a way, and this is me being vindictive, After the MS aquisition I would love to be a fly on the wall when they have to explain the almost guranteed drop in active users. I take solace in the fact that their bad decisions are going to come back and haunt them.
RDF please an thank you!
So the development philosophy they have had for the last 15 years?
Have you met the WoW community? everyone talks in the LFG channel likes its Trade Chat. happened back then and history will repeat itself. lol
Yeah and the thing is even talking in the LFG chat isn’t social. Typing “LFTank SM” isn’t social. Saying “Will tank” is not social. Making groups in there is not a social experience.
bump. important topic
Don’t use it if you don’t like it. Personally, I’m glad it’s being added.
Raid Finder didn’t happen until later down the road.
I don’t like sitting there for an hour and half looking for heals, tanks or a dps.
With the LFG tool, it’s all listed right there.
Just adding my name to the list of folks that would like RDF.
I am one of those sorry sorts that really, really liked the various “Frozen Halls” dungeons like Halls of Reflection. Great story and challenge. And I went in as healer because it was punishing depending on all the different tanks and dps I saw roll in there, and forced me to do a lot better with my dispels and basically get my act together if I didn’t already have great gear.
But, as you are aware, trying to find people who also want this degree of punishment was the hardest part. I was also willing to do stuff over and over until people got what the gear drop they were looking for. This is why I relied on Random Dungeon Finder.
Rdf and all gearing implications it’s brings was not introduced until icc, and the same should happen here. #nochanges
Raid Finder didn’t happen until later down the road.
Raid finder didn’t happen until Cata and Dragon soul raid to be exact. similar to random dungeon finder only coming in ICC… the GIANT difference is RDF did not change the way raiding worked. it changed how you can queue for 5 man content and be auto grouped with other people. Making or joining groups are far from a social experience. They have been for years, people just don’t view wow as a IRC chatroom with a game attached anymore they have loads of other ways to interact with internet randoms they don’t need wow for that anymore. Removing RDF tool and adding a lazy replacement is so Blizzlike it is par for the classic course it seems.
Removing LFG tool is already going to be better than leaving it in.
Better for who? The boosters?
People seem to forget the lessons that have repeatedly happened over and over and over again. Wrath was popular because it made the game more accessible, and opened up content to more player.
Cata drastically upped the difficulty and lost players forcing Blizzard to try and stop the hemmorhaging.
MoP was widely succesful with the chief complaints being the requirements on daily quests, with SoO being one of the best patches ever including Timeless Isle.
WoD tried again to go back to the raid or die mentality and failed, whereas again they changed course once more in Legion with making content more accessible.
Those arguing to keep RDF out of Wrath Classic are either boosters, or seeking to gatekeep. Both of which are toxic behaviors. God forbid someone plays the game to have fun.
I fully agree.
That’s true as well!
Oh yeah, RDF stands in the way of selling boosts. But since boosting is no more, given the recent changes, this shouldn’t be an issue to begin with
My issue with LFG is how poorly it is designed. It has a lot of limiting factors.
It doesn’t even work on PTR with a few hundred players, let alone on mega servers wotj 25k+ pop.
Yup. They replaced a beloved working tool with one that just doesn’t function. It had no vision. A choice was made in the vapor of ego and now the whole system is going to crash down.
Plain and simple give us a better tool if you are going to remove RDF, like they said, and most people are ok with it. This trash only makes people want RDF. For good reason. RDF is proven to work… this is just a bad replacement.
Put in what we know works. Put in RDF.
But RDF only works with dungeons… not the same purpose at all.
i like to think there is good gatekeeping that some players do to ensure they are somewhat inclusive. They always check the leader box in the LFG tool and are able to assist.
Then there is the power trip gatekeepers that like to lord over their groups as if their experience is more important than everyone else’s. I wish there was a special clause in that “social contract” to punish them.
I hate to bring up FFXIV’s rating system but it would definitely be an interesting experiment to add that functionality to this LFG tool and see if it sticks. instead of “word of mouth” for bad players to run with, it would just be self-evident and players policing other players. (Since this LFG tool is technically part of #somechanges why not experiment?).
Shouldn’t be an issue, but if anything is going to drive people to illegal services, or paying for a level up, this is it.
