Or a whole new batch of mounts, achievements, and titles in modern for stuff you’ve done in Classic, like that other person keeps suggesting?
I guess you haven’t kept up on current events. There’s no way to get Ateish on Modern. It was removed on November 4th, 2008. And since Legendaries are not transmoggable sans the Warglaives of Azzinoth (for very specific reasons) it’s a non-issue.
And say Blizzard does capitulate and allow the other 6** Legendary Weapons to be transmog’d at some point (Spoiler Alert: Don’t hold you breath) then they would be infinitely more legit in being able to use it than people who got Thunderfury or Thorid’al.
** Yes, I know there are 7, but Sulfuras is available via Firelands in a more high-res model.
I guess you didn’t read my question. But if you did read it but figured you’d rather pretend no one’s said they specifically want Atiesh than answer it, fine, substitute Benediction, substitute Dreadnaught armor, substitute anything you can’t get in Modern and acknowledge that someone wants to have carry over to Modern (ignoring the Black Market Auction House for some reason that totally isn’t “this weird-*** retro game has to be for something that isn’t people wanting to play it!”). Go on. What’s the unselfish reason for wanting any of those?
That, or “they would be infinitely more legit in being able to use it” means something somehow related in Modern-player-speak.
I did read it. You just asked a bad one or you were being completely ignorant. But in either event, I answered it.
Ummmm… that’s what this thread has been about… a one way, Classic->Modern link through BattleNet to unlock appearances and such. Have you not been paying attention?
No. You didn’t even answer anything in the neighborhood of my question. I’m guessing that what’s going on here is that when you say “selfish,” you mean something like “illegitimate” rather than the actual meaning of the word, and since you don’t acknowledge that Modern players have no right to benefit from Classic existing even though they don’t want to play it, none of their desires are, in your skewed definition, “selfish.”
I think you misunderstood my suggestion.
My suggestion was not to allow things to be unlocked on Modern by playing Classic. My suggestion was, that since the work is already being done on Classic, to add a Caverns of Time portal to “Old Eastern Kingdoms” and “Old Kalimdor”, as in copy/paste the work they already did for Classic, into Modern so the Classic players get to have their pristine vanilla environment, and the Modern players can enjoy Classic content in the Modern environment.
In this way Blizzard gets more of a return on the Classic investment. My suggestion does not mix the Classic playerbase with the Modern playerbase as you seem to have misconstrued.
Oh, yeah, didn’t follow your exchange with Gnocci back.
Carry on, good luck.
Vanilla achievements (if they are working because for super old accounts like mine, they are effed) should stay Vanilla. Classic achievements should stay Classic. Retail achievements should stay Retail. Neither should carry over to the other.
Their “desires” are irrelevant. The question is “Will they conform to the requirements that Vanilla WoW has?” Both in terms of systems and player base. If the answer is “No” to either of those, then either they will flounder, be forced to change, or self-select to leave.
As I stated further up, Classic and Modern are opposites of each other in terms of adaptation. Modern WoW has to change to adapt to players’ ever-changing styles. That’s why we see things like LFR, LFD, etc. coming about over time. Classic is the reverse, players will have to adapt to it instead.
That’s nice. If you ever feel like answering my question, it’ll be here. What’s the non-selfish reason to want Dreadnaught armor in Modern?
It’s already in Modern.
What’s the non-selfish reason to want to be able to be able to obtain Benediction in Classic and then transfer that Benediction (or the appearance thereof) from Classic to retail?
It’s good for the game because that’s the only reason I’d play it!
I tried…
It’s not happening. Can this thread end now?
They’d just start another one, you know.
Citation needed. Every statement on the matter has cited fan response. You’re crossing into the realm of “aliens built the pyramids,” here.
Was that before or after they built oldschool AV?
Thank you for specifically pointing this out. It’s very promising to hear that you guys firmly intend on keeping Classic as legitimate and untouched as possible.
I think any more crossover than that could be damaging and lessen the value or prestige of those rewards.
This has nothing to do with Ion being a Scarab Lord right?
What’s the non-selfish reason to want to be able to be able to obtain Benediction in Classic and then transfer that Benediction (or the appearance thereof) from Classic to retail?
you weren’t there or didn’t get it or didn’t hold onto it… thats not blizzards fault and you are not entitled to it, deal with it… just like everyone else
