I have had a change of heart since the start of this thread though, I think OP’s suggestion on a time base queue in order to match up to a different region.
I think that’s a winner of a solution overall

Or just have a limit to the time you are in the Q before it matches you outside USA. That way for those who don’t want to vs USA players with high ping they can leave the Q before a certain time. Perhaps with a message that will pop onto your screen to let you confirm that you will now match with USA players which you must accept before it automatically does.
For example, after 10 minutes in the Q it will have a popup saying “You now will match with players in a different location which can result in higher then normal latency but possibly faster queue times. ACCEPT / DECLINE”
Or have a button that will search for “Local” players only in arena and a button that will search for both “Local and USA” players but will prioritise local before matchign with USA.
How about a tickbox to let us choose between US/OCE?
You know maybe put some development into this 15 year old game thats turning out millions per month. Or just do nothing and wonder why subs keep dropping
As an Aussie who plays on US East servers, I second this. Oceanic realms needs to be merged for battlegrounds (not arena) to make them playable.
5+ months of no AV queues made me jump ship to US East and I can’t say I regret my decision.
Why bgs but not arena? Arena queues are awful… 20+ minutes a 1500+
The top 100 oce 2v2 teams range between 2300 - 1500. the ladder is a joke

While merged with NA, we already have a 2minute wait before it searches for an NA opponent and vice versa.
If you were so desperate to keep arena vs Australians, you have had the freedom to constantly requeue at the 1min 59s mark.

Actually I’m at the point now where I hope blizzard don’t fix anything and you idiots that complained about the merge can just sit in your dead queues because the few remaining OCE pvpers got sick of it and left.
The thought of Goon having to spend his entire weeks worth of playtime waiting for one BG to form makes me happy.
This, why should NA have to deal with even the remote possibility of laggy games? We had our chance to play with them and we blew it.

We’ve played with and against US teams on varying ping since the beginning of arena on retail. There’s been thousands of oceanic rank 1/ gladiators over the years despite the ping, it is not a valid excuseand it should never have been split in the first place. Merge it back together and don’t touch it again.

Fix battlegrounds/honor and those Qing arenas seriously will likely double.
Nobody wants to bother when you can’t even live through a rogue opener or shatter.
Double is nowhere near enough.

As an Australian who played the original versions on US West servers, and now an Australian currently in the US playing on Oceanic servers, I can say with 100% certainty, that actually getting matches would be an acceptable gain for a +150ms ping.
I routinely play on ~180-200ms with little to no issues, and I do know that in PVP there’s an element of lag in that situation that favours the lower ping, but it’s kinda irrelevant if you never actually get a chance to enter in the first place.
Agreed. The original roll out put us on US EAST servers also (250+ms)
if we’re kept to US WEST most of us will play on 160~ ms.
Or even better give us A TICK BOX TO QUEUE INTO US
