Please RE-Merge OCE+US

Tick box.

Problem solved.
Aussies playing? Q normally.
Nobody playing and you are willing to gimp yourself to play? Tick USA servers and Q. Everyone wins. Literally no reason to be against this.

The big reason against it is - It requires dev work. Which is a big no no on this 15 year old game thats apparently not a live service game

The original roll out put us on US EAST servers also (250+ms)

Wait a moment… you can’t be serious… they really put Australian servers with US EAST? One guy literally had 1 job and this is what he did?!

If you go back and read through the literal thousands of QQ posts you’ll actually see the MAJORITY OF COMPLAINTS where about us being put onto EAST servers…

So did I all the way up till MOP. I don’t want to go back there. Maybe blizz can focus on making arena an interesting esport again and we can get more players in OCE.

Youre a caster - it almost doesn’t matter. Mel dps have a much harder time on 200+ ping. Doable but less enjoyable.

Im a 1500 rat atm but yeah I tend to agree, I dont mind the tickbox option.

If they did the merge / tickbox correctly and put us on US WEST. you’d be on more 160~ ms.

Agree not ideal for rogue

I played high end arenas on private servers for years with 200-250ms. Warrior and enhancement were doable but as expected an near automatic loss vs the top players all due to MS. A rogue on the otherhand is closer to unplayable. Can’t get an opener half the time if the target is moving, will never get an opener on another rogue the vast majority of the time, shadowsteps to only be “out of range”, shadow step kicks never landing etc… I could go on.

Its awful and would want to avoid it at all costs.

If it is indeed 160ms as other say then this perhaps could be playable. I haven’t done arenas with this before

Would we not be getting better ping playing with Asia?

pingtestlive(DOT)com/world-of-warcraft

Im getting much lower results through testing with that.

NA isnt linked to Asia data centers so a merge like this isn’t possible.

They’re essentially two separate games / two separate data sets

If this happens im rerolling back to SP lol

Yep. Rogues and Warriors have the worst effects. But what’s better. Nothing or slight ping.

Well apparently the que times for arena is due to MMR matchmaking on blizz part - takes 1 minute so search for 20mmr. So if they fix that it might be better. Even in Euro/America they are having high que times.

Is it possible for them to create a middle ground where the groups are merged (OCE and US) but we connect to a server thats in the middle of both groups. So the ping is a little bit higher but not across the whole world bad? Idk if this is possible based on geographic but just a thought? Idk if anyone else can weigh in on blizzard data center locations?

I’m convinced that +1700/1800 (idk what the ideal cut off would be) rating matchmaking to include US West for Arena only (Battlegrounds remain OCE only, should be no issues if we have same faction queues long-term) is the solution to this. It appears that everyone against a re-merge is either below this cut-off or don’t even play arena and have no idea what they’re actually talking about.

Bout that US Matchmaking Tickbox blizzard?

Well actually if you review the conversation properly without jumping to conclusions, those that were against the merge are all in support of this option from the OP:

This does appear to be the winning suggestion of all, and something I’m happy to throw my support behind instead of a blanket merger.

That’s just the wrong way to approach the conversation, the whole “you don’t do this so you don’t have a say” attitude isn’t going to work, we all have a say, and we’re all on an open forum discussing it. Don’t try silence your opposition with this approach, it makes for an ugly conversation.

Either way, I am with the OP on this one with their suggestion,

Cheers

No need to be stuck in the cycle of toxicity, I’ve openly acknowledged in this thread my change of stance on the matter with the OP’s suggestion, but I welcome open dialogue with people that have different opinions than myself, I don’t run from it or complain about it publicly like you’re currently doing.

You can’t tell people they have no right to conversate on a particular matter because you feel that they do not participate in said activities, that’s just hiding from the confrontation and dialogue with those that have alternative views.

Imagine being able to have dialogue with others without trying to brand them as a “troll”, difficult task I can imagine, but I’d encourage you to take that leap of faith!
