Not that I’ve seen, but there are tons of large events, markets, etc. You should try it out sometime, don’t have to RP-- just take a peak at how they play.
Also, yes sharding is ruining RP on MG right now and it blows.
It’s so meta but we actually kind of do LMAO.
There are people who RP as actors / actresses and will do In-Character stage performances; there are also some people who will jokingly RP d&d games (i call mine Kobolds & Catacombs) but it’s all very casual; a friend of mine had a booth for that at the Tournament of Ages event, a few years ago, and I think it would be hilarious to do it again!

That’s unironically going on my to-do list LMAO.
One of the most interesting things I saw when I first started RPing in 2014 was a group of people playing out an IC iteration of the Wrath Gate cinematic; we used one of the wall / gates in Icecrown Citadel.
The Tournament of Ages is 100% the closest thing I can think of to an RP renaissance festival.

Tournament of Ages is also something Blizzard has spotlighted multiple times, and it wouldn’t be able to exist with sharding on RP servers.
During prepatch they turned sharding off for a few days and it allowed for a huge server event in Stormwind, dealing with an elemental attack. It was laggy, yes, but it was very fun. Some of the fondest memories players have, not even just RPers, are of huge events that either didn’t have much sharding or had so many people it didn’t matter.
The Legion invasions in the Legion prepatch, for example, huge lag fests. But that’s still regarded as the best prepatch ever.

What world content is going on in Stormwind currently?
I think that everyone gets that they needed to turn sharding on to get people through the bottleneck of getting on the boat to the Dragon Isles. The bottleneck crowds have long since dispersed, and we always have to rabble to get them to remember to turn sharding off again after it’s no longer needed.

Hey Blizz, most of us have gotten onto the boat or have access to portals now. Turn off sharding, it sucks that the major hub cities for the factions are practically dead due to how aggressive and poor your sharding is for them compared to literally anywhere else.

At the beginning of an xpac I get why sharding is on, but this is week 3 now of DF being out, and with raids and mythic+ and outdoor events and world bosses being on, I doubt so many people are going to be in/around Stormwind enough to demand continual sharding ): Please turn it off

I thought about creating a new guild for my many Gnomes on WrA.
I went to SW to get a guild charter and noticed that I was the only player in the Trade District.
I did a /who and I was the only one listed.
NO point in making a new guild, I guess.
