A load of us players are fine with no RFD tool, we like to control who we invite.
What we learned from the Rfd tool is you get a lot of tools. What is great about LFM is that you learn who is who, make friends and you can pass on people that you do not want to run with again.
There are 1000’s of groups running per day using the lfm tool, it is fine the way it is.
I would suggest that it’s fine-ish the way it is.
There are a few issues that I find highly irritating, for instance the ability for a mage to queue as a healer or tank.
If they could solve for that, and perhaps keep people who aren’t attuned to a heroic dungeon from starting groups for said heroic (or at least somehow point out to them that they aren’t keyed) I would personally be ok with this tool, but would still prefer RDF…
The second sentence you used was redundant grammatically-speaking but absolutely correct when it is put in the light of gaming terms.
The RFD is bad in many ways for classic because it destroys community by encourage ‘tool-like’ behavior. with random dungeon finder you’re teammates can turn on you without a hestitation because you will never ever see them again, most likely. and it’s a two-way street. This spells bad news for classic in every way, and i think when players suggest it being added it confirms they came from Retail !
Everyone keeps saying the RDF in wrath. Ok so lets take a look at this tool as it was in wrath orginally.
No xrealm support during this iteration. So no access to more tanks/healers as most will make their own groups and farm heroics for their gear which brings me to point 2.
No lockouts on Heroics. OMG how everyone that is not super casual will have their tank and healers instantly with the gear they need making them not tank/heal in the world even faster. ALOT faster.
Teleport to dungeon … doesnt make a difference to me with this either way tbh. I can see immersion being a pointer for sure.
No rewards as the rewards are dailies and not incentive rewards that were given later in expansions.
So with these 4 i could think of off the top of my head, i don’t see what benefit rdf will have at all from the lfg system OTHER then leveling 1-70 normal dungeons. Its the only thing that is possibly could help.
RDF never stopped anyone from forming groups on their own. It is helpful for low and mid pop servers. I have been using the LFG tool on beta and now in pre patch and tbh I prefer the RDF tool from original wrath … this was not bad at start … it was into Cata and beyond when the ‘social aspect’ was disrupted. This was not due to RDF it was do to people being rude and unsocial … that has nothing to do with RDF … it has to do with people and the way they will play with others… period!
If you want a better social aspect in the game maybe BE NICER TO PEOPLE!
“Control who we invite” - Just come out and say what you really mean. You ride the meta wave and want meta comps/meta playstyles/meta everything. There’s people out here waiting 2 hours for 3 mages to do a dungeon from all of this brainwashing. The honest take is this new classic “community” wants to gatekeep players from start to end of xpac. It’s 2022, and the “community” is fueled by players who will spend 140 hours for a 1% upgrade. I hope they do implement rdf and stop this charlatan “community” discussion, what a joke lol.
That is the first argument I have heard that makes sense for not using RDF. I still think it should be in as original Wrath had it, but I agree with your sentiment as well. If people do not feel responsible, they have no responsibility (my own Maddenism).
This guy wants to “Control” people which is why he is against RDF. There is nothing forcing you to use this tool. Its designed for solo players that want to group fast. Having this tool will in no way prevent you from forming a group and doing the content. zero impact on the people that don’t want it.

Agreed. People like to complain because they can’t get into a group easily, but what that sounds like to me is the RFD-tool that primarily killed the social aspect of an MMORPG was used as a crutch for these players that didn’t take the time to build a network of friends or guildmates they could run with instead. Or that their behavior was toxic with no repercussions because they could just join the next dungeon in RFD when they were inevitably kicked.
They can do this with the current tool too. Nobody is asking for the RDF to be cross server…
The thing is, with same-server AND a lack of RDF, players actually have the control over who they invite. If someone “turns on you without hesitation”, you get to remember that. And not invite them again.
