The argument is moot anyway, it’s coming within 7ish weeks at this point.
I’m fine with the buff coming eventually and think it should, since that’s how it went originally.
But “it’s just a video game, why shouldn’t everyone clear it?” is god awful logic when talking about the last boss on the harder difficulty. It’s the entire reason why the lower difficulty exists.
The argument should be more like, it’s game it should be fun, and a lot of people don’t have fun wiping 400 times but still like a challenge.
I don’t think H ICC is 400 wipes difficult. Lich King is hard, but he should be. But like I said, I’m fine with the buffs happening eventually. I think my guild will be able to clear within 8 weeks.
I mean if you want to lose 80% of the playbase in one raid tier from burnout sure. Look at the Ulduar #s. Week 1 Ulduar had 515k raids and the last week had 268k.
Neither Nax/Trial saw this drop off in raiders. Nax started at 408k ended at 473k. Trial opened with 359k ended with 406k.
Most videogames don’t lock the power behind hard modes, they usually limit player power in hard, not boost it.
WoW has that backwards, which makes the “why do you feel everyone should have a chance to beat this?” Argument fall a bit flat.
At best, if hard modes stay exclusive, it should just drop an added currency that lets you target farm items that you are unlucky with, not drop gear that is 20% better.
The better gear also just makes the hard modes stop being hard for those that claim to want the challenge, while not helping the players that can’t do them yet to bridge the gap.
With how WoW is designed, ramping buffs like what’s coming in ICC makes a lot of sense.
So award a title and achievement for completing it with the buff turned off. I guarantee people will want to do so.
Originally the LK wasnt killed until the buff came out and that was months down the line. This time it happened fast with H ToGC gear because people have been doing it for 15 years and know exactly what to do.
Even normal LK is no joke. I never managed to kill him in OG. Went back at level 85 in Cata for the achievement and he still kicked our butts a couple times.
Ugg, Ulduar was such a slog. I have no desire to go back other than to kill Algalon on 25m. Naxx and TOGC were fun. I’d go back to them for achievements or whatever. I also still need heroic Death’s Verdict.
Is it the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard, or is your own stupidity projecting itself on to that logic? If everyone of every skill could complete everything in this game, there would be no legends, no epic adventures, no kings or grand bosses depicted, and no playerbase would have ever been drawn to the game, and wow would have died the same death of other mediocre watered down mmo’s and pay for power mmo’s with no real fleshed out systems for players to interact with.
Because at the end of the day, when everyone knows that everyone can complete everything in the game and obtain all the loot, that is the day any game dies. Its not even a game at that point, just an interactive movie. And there’s always going to be something better to spend time playing or doing at that point.
Normal Mode exist for those that cant compete on Heroic mode.
Why does there need to be a 30% DMG buff if there’s normal mode already?
Anyone who wants the 30% DMG buff clearly doesn’t understand how ICC 25m is going to be full cleared in sub 1hr every week with 30% DMG buff.
1st Shadowmournes will be crafted in 3 more weeks. Let those players at least play with them for a good 3 months before nerfing the content.
Normal mode exist for a reason. If anything don’t allow the DMG buff on Heroic mode.
It blows my mind that people take this game so seriously. Or at leadt gatekeep it so much and this is coming from someone who got cutting edge for 3 expansions in a row.
Wow was literally designed to be the baby as baby mode of mmos. It’s literally designed around catering to casuals.
It’s the mind set of “If I had to struggle, everyone else has to”.
Makes no sense that casuals/bad players want access to free heroic mode loot.
Normals exist for this exact reason.
Makes no sense that hardcore players are worried about an optional buff. Turn it off and show everyone how good you are.
Easiest way to turn it off is do Normal modes.
Stay in normal modes please.
Even normal mode Lich King with full buff was no joke back in 2010.
It’s a joke now without the buff.
Pugs are going 12/12 normal in sub 3 hours.
No need for any buffs.
That thumbnail is so cringe, literally looks like this
