Please Make Pre-Legion Elite Sets Purchasable

All previous elite appearances should be purchasable as they are in Legion and beyond. There are elite appearances I was never able to complete, and it would be amazing if this simple change was made. I have heard a lot of others express how they also want this change. It is a very simple fix that would make a lot of people happy.
There are a lot of elite appearances from Cata - WoD that have been literally removed from the game despite that fact that people earned those rewards at the time. Please add a vendor for these items.

Edit: I’d clarify that my post indicated that only those who earned Elite titles/2k rating during that season should be able to purchase the reward. If you did not earn the armor at the time the content was relevant, you should not be able to purchase it.

+1 to this idea but with the caveat of ; Elite sets from previous seasons should be purchasable only if your character has historically achieved the appropriate rating. If you didn’t earn that rating in that season you shouldn’t just be allowed to buy it.

Yes, exactly! That’s what I meant in the post, so my bad if that wasn’t clear. The elite sets should only be purchasable if you earned that reward while the content was relevant.

The question is how does that get proven since the data from those seasons has long since been disposed of.

Are we basing it off of gear in our transmog library? If so, there’s plate crossover pieces that would theoretically enable me to buy old sets on Warrior and Paladin simply because I had them on my DK.

I’m fine with that as long as people got their rating in that season on something–but not if they didn’t play at all.

They don’t have this data anymore to prove it. The only reason you can still get Legion elite sets is because the elite set unlocks were tied to the 2k achievement during those seasons, which was new tech and set a specific CR requirement.

Old achievements wont cut it because Duelist CR requirements varied from season to season, as low at 1900 in low participation seasons all the up to 2500-2700 in inflated seasons

Could you not go based off a duelist achievement in the specific characters feats of strength tab for that xpac? I’m not sure how it would work based off what you said ^ that would be my only idea.

With those issues you bring up, the only way they would be able to do it is by collected appearances, meaning only those who already have some of the elite items collected would be able to purchase it.
I can confirm that having the set partially collected does not enable you to acquire the remaining items, so the only option currently is to attempt to match it with other gear.
Having it go by appearances collected wouldn’t necessarily be fair to those who still earned 2k rating that season but never bought any items, but it would still be more fair than not having the items in the game at all.

Yeah but each piece had a different CR requirement, for instance a lot of seasons the highest piece would be 2200-2400cr while lower pieces would be 1850. For those reasons, having a partial set won’t cut it.

For example a Duelist in a season where it was only 2020cr, wouldn’t of been able to naturally complete the set without shoulders. But might of gotten a few of the lower pieces.

Ah, yeah, that was true for Cata and MoP. WoD worked differently, I remember. The elite armor and weapons were purely cosmetic and required a flat 2k rating to purchase. I forgot it was different for the two expansions prior.
I’m not sure how it would work for Cata and MoP items then. If they entertain the idea, hopefully they’d be able to come up with something for those who earned high rating in those seasons.

It also worked the same way in TBC / WoTLK, with each piece requiring higher and higher CR

Yes, but that was for regular conquest armor. The idea of elite armor that had different appearances/recolors wasn’t introduced until Cata.

Right, not sure why they allowed xmogs to be bought after the fact for those seasons. But xmog also didn’t exist back then and wearing the set’s themselves was prestigious. It’s quite the predicament

Hahaha very true! I remember if I saw someone with conq shoulders on, I knew they were good lol.
It is definitely a predicament! Hopefully blizz would be able to figure something out that works for people who earned those rewards! Some of the sets look amazing hahah

The warriour one and hunter one from new dalaran for legion looked pretty amazing.

The problem there is that the older seasons required you to be in a team at the end of the season. My character is a perfect example, I have every 2200 set from season 20 on through WOD, but I never received the Duelist title due to not remaining on those teams. I never actually got Duelist until last season even though I obviously fulfilled the rating requirement in many old seasons.

I always stopped pushing rating once I got the elite set. Never felt the need to push rating for titles until last season

I see how that’s a problem. Yikes it’s unfortunate there’s no data to support the older xpacs but maybe at the very least having some components of the old set is definitely an option.

But that validates my Paladin’s ability to purchase old sets due to items like, for example, elite weapons.

My elite weapon collection on DK would technically enable me to purchase items for Paladin, Warrior, and Hunter because of 2H weapons as well as Monk, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, etc because of a 1H Sword for transmog

Eh just make it so if you hit the rating any season you can buy any elite set from before.

That is a terrible idea.

If anything, make it so getting 2200 in a modern season grants you one token to redeem for an old set.

I have so many Cata/MoP elite sets unfinished it’s sad.

Also, no to anyone asking for an elite set they didn’t earn.
