Please look at what the BRD raid is doing right in the most important way

You gave a vendor for loot for each difficulty, the stuffs not insanely difficult to get; maybe a full run to buy a piece of gear plus whatever you get in the vault. It’s been really, really nice to use to help alts catching up and you should continue this method going forward.

Each boss from the next raid tier onward drops a set amount of currency, we’ll say 5 tokens. You need to full clear the raid to be able to buy something off the vendor, with either the rare/extremely rare drops not being on the vendor or costing an insane amount of tokens. It’s a good system and I hope you don’t limit it to just timewalking raids from here on out.

I liked what they did at the end of shadowlands where all bosses dropped a token, after 10 tokens you could upgrade a piece of gear to that level difficulty. It breathed life into LFR. That’s where I pulled my Jaithys from that I made into a mythic one then.

Similar ideas, but I think this one was better.

This is more my issue. I’d be fine with some token system but you shouldn’t be able to upgrade an item into a tier you haven’t done yet. Maybe require 2-3 kills of a boss on mythic before you can upgrade a heroic version into a mythic version, for example.

People have to get the Crests somehow. They don’t just magically appear.

I’m not sure if you played in SL, but that’s exactly what it was. Tokens for normal dropped in normal, heroic in heroic, mythic in mythic. So I took 10 tokens from 10 mythic kills, and used them to upgrade an item to mythic quality.

There were also the 3 dinars, which let you buy a normal piece of gear that you could then upgrade using the above method.

Making BRD unpopular was actually a psyop for making the vendor look bad.

Clearly people don’t want the vendor, no one is running this raid.

lmao.

Odd. There are always groups in group finder filling up and LFR is quick to get into, even as DPS.

Seems like people are running it just fine. Even my guild and the guild we team up with are running it. And my guild doesn’t normally raid.

Sure, but farming braindead +8s or the first 2-3 easy mythic bosses doesn’t mean you should get a mythic weapon off the last boss of the mythic raid.

I did play then, and it was only okay because it was a 2 month joke season. In an actual season, the token system of SL would make raid progression pointless. Just make it require you actually kill the boss with the item you want to upgrade on the difficulty you want to upgrade to at least 3 times so it’s more like bad luck protection.

I think the problem with the raid is 2 pronged, it is harder than the gear it supplies and because it must be queued into, it is very pug unfriendly.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say here. Since the gearing system was introduced, people have been able to upgrade gear to the max rank of that piece of gear. This isn’t any different. The Crests still come from somewhere. I fail to see the problem.

There is a gargantuan difference between acquiring gilded crests and killing mythic raid bosses, let alone penultimate or final ones.

Players should not have access to identical or functionally identical items from content they have not done.

I’ll be more direct then. If you haven’t killed mythic Silken Court a couple times, then you shouldn’t be able to get a myth track Spymaster trinket, for example.

We’re talking about upgrading a piece of BRD gear.

We’re talking about upgrading BRD gear.

I thought we were talking about taking a system from brd and expanding it to the game at large.

Adding methods for deterministic acquisition and all that.

My conversation that you replied to was with someone that I was talking to them about upgrading a piece of BRD gear.

The item that person was talking about was actually from sanctum of domination in Shadowlands, and they were referring to bullions from SLS4. They also mentioned mythic, a difficulty not available for brd.

You seem to have been talking about brd, but you also seem to have been the only one.

Literally in the OP’s post… but okay. Whatever. Moving on.

The OP mentions brd very briefly then springboards into a proposal for a deterministic gear system in future regular raid tiers.

This thread isn’t about brd. It’s about deterministic raid gearing.

To this day I do not understand why they removed badges/JP/VP. It was bad luck protection, and a slow but consistent gearing path for non-raiders all rolled into one. What problem did the dev team think they were fixing by removing it?

Sounds like a alternate use for Crests. Instead of adding a new currency just allow for a purchase of a base line of items to be purchased with crests.

It’s up to you to choose whether to use them on a new piece or upgrade what you have.
