I’d be so down for a permanent wrath server. Would be cool if we somehow were able to have our characters back but I’m fine with starting fresh. Please make it happen!

It’s not that people overestimate the cost or effort. Most people don’t have any idea of the costs, not even you. It’s that people think Blizzard isn’t overestimating the cost or effort. There’s two possibilities as to why Blizzard isn’t adding wrath or BC era servers.

Blizzard is drastically overestimating the cost and effort it takes to keep a few servers up and running and is walking away from a big and easy profit based on the overestimate.

Blizzard knows exactly how much in dev time and costs and isn’t adding wrath or bc era servers because they know it won’t be profitable.
I think most people think that Blizzard is smart enough to know how much it would cost.
If only they were smart enough to mediate. It’s funny how they just let everyone continue to quarell about this, even though neither side is going to win. Regardless of whether you support permanent wrath classic or not. It’s stupid as I will get out.
There are several reasons blizzard doesn’t mediate but the main reason is there’s no possible mediation that would be successful. Nothing they say would stop people from asking and so long as people keep asking others will post why they think it’s a bad idea. For example for years people have asked for multiboxing to be stopped. In the early years blizzard devs communicated regularly with the players and were very explicit in telling us that multiboxing wasn’t against the ToS and never would be banned. They told us multiboxing would never be stopped over and over and over and over again. No matter how absolutely clear blizzard was the requests that it be stopped always continued. When classic was released even here on the classic forum there were threads asking for it to be stopped. Nothing stopped the requests after 15 years and nothing will stop the wrath era threads.
