they aren’t they’re only into streaming and streaming-related income streams. why do you think they’re so obsessed with hardcore, it’s because apparently that gets the eyeballs on twitch. personally i don’t get it but i don’t get watching people playing video games in general.
lol they really should just cut to the chase and do this less work for the devs, and the retail players will 100% love it
If they go the classic+ route they should make more low level dungeons.
Like one for each level range from level 20 onwards.
That’s basically already what it is. All retail players do is bemoan the fact that they have to do anything at all to close the space between themselves and an instance someplace.
There isn’t any good reason the retail client should continue masquerading as any type of an RPG. It’s being designed entirely like a coop MOBA.
The game could have been moved to a lobby based menu that ports you to instances years ago. Its all just filler at this point between instances.
Thats what retail is. The world is just an add-on.
So crazy we dont have an RP realm of any type yet. People said we can do it on normal servers, so we tried. Sadly, the aggressive layering destroys every event we try to put together as a community.
Even solo RP is sketchy as I have had people get layered away if we are having conversations in world when they turn the corner.
People who don’t really know what they’re talking about said this. The entire idea of RP is the collective suspension of disbelief and everyone working together to make the world feel like an authentic second reality.
Unless everybody is all-in on this, such as the rules of an RP server dictate, then it doesn’t work. You cannot RP on normal realms aside from maybe a macro or two for when you interact with randos, who most of the time probably think you’re crazy at best, and treat you with outright disdain at worst.
We need a realm. Simple as that.
I don’t see a successful one happening now. The rppvp community would be split again. We need all people for the server to be successful imo
The great thing about RP is it doesn’t require a Full realm to be good. It just requires the people that are there to participate and be dedicated to RP.
Like I’ve been saying all along, an RP server doesn’t have to be filled to the brim with players to be good. It’s quality over quantity. Even if it has half the population of a larger server, it will work as long as the people on it legitimately want to be there and want to make it work.
This is one of those things that is really don’t like about modern gaming in general. There’s all this pressure to things the “right” way, when the “right” way should be the “fun” way if you’re trying to play a game.
Honestly I don’t care anymore. I play sub daggers, Ret paladin, wherever I want. And to be honest I still haven’t met anyone that actually has a problem with it.
In a 20 year old game whose max level content can be cleared in a couple of hours by groups of players in quest greens on their 3838194737281929th run, who really cares?
I suppose for some their definition of fun is maxing out the damage meter and such and good for them, but for the average player to feel pressured into playing like them is ridiculous.
Your Sunday league football side don’t have to train like Man City to have fun.
I’ve been alliance for almost forever - but on DD - still helped a horde warrior get his WW mats and get cyclonian down. it’s so much more immersive than other types - where people want to beat a video game than just play with friends (even if across factions). that’s the MMO part - blizz please take attention to this thread! also the friends across factions get me pretty often but it’s RP and I laugh - it is supposed to be a game.
What is frustrating that if they give us an RP-PvP server now, it probably wont be very popular. And then they will use this against the RP community in the future.
I wish Blizzard could get off of their “we need megaservers” craze. I HATE these megaservers.
The lack of communication on the subject is insulting.
At this point in time, it is truly too late to launch an RPPVP server, its health would suffer immensely due to people putting so much time into their characters already.
The only thing I see happening, is that they launch an ‘RPPVP’ server to inject another shot of fresh and FOMO in the middle of Classic.
It would be used for gain, not for community.
all true RPers would reroll in an instant if they opened up an RPvP server, especially if this server didn’t have the awful experimental sharding going on
I’ve been saying all this time that I’ll happily reroll if we get a realm. Leveling on a normal server is just leveling, but on an RP server it’s a totally different experience.
Same here. Granted I haven’t gotten very far yet but I’d rather RP!
My guild went to war against legions of dwarves last night in the Barrens. Good old scheduled WPvP.
I had to ask them to stream it though, because the raid was full and I couldn’t get myself onto that layer. A niche RP realm wouldn’t have this problem.
But yeah. I love being excluded because the realm is full to the brim of people not relevant to what we’re doing. Something’s gotta give and we want it to be us. We need a proper home.

I’d re-roll if they released an RPPVP server.
I’d probably re-roll if they released a regular RP server and then just flag myself.
I’ve hit 60 on the pve server. I hate it. I would re-roll on an rp-pvp server in an instant. Some of my best moments in wow were on a an rp-pvp server.
