I really hope the reasoning isn’t that it’s “too close to launch”. RP servers were basically announced on the official warcraft twitter account until yesterday.
That’s a problem with the greater WoW community fear mongering any server that isn’t so full you can’t log in.
RPPVP servers thrive at medium to low pop because you learn who the other RPers are and can have RP battles without getting interrupted because the server is overfull and layered out the butt.
Antyhing between 1000-3000 is vanilla sized and a healthy size for the server unless you’re solely focused on instance grinding and PUG Raids.
I don’t know the reasoning, but supposedly that post was an error entirely (which they still haven’t correct, lmao) and I also recently learned that changed Crusader Strike in SoD to a regular PvP server?
For some strange reason, the Classic Dev team is just anti-roleplay. Even if they pretend and say otherwise, every action they’ve taken since 2019 has shown the reality.
The RP realm I started at at Era, was not enforcing RP rules. People spoke OOC all the time, it was such a mess.
A few lost souls did RP, but my god, it´s been nothing like in original WOW or other MMO´s. Sadly, the WOW community is unable to RP, they only know epics and gearscore.
Would I like an RP realm? Yes, but without enforcing RP rulesets, they are worthless.
so what is this source? (still high on hopium)
I don’t want to drop names, but it was something one of the people in the Fengus RP discord said. They’ve also posted here in the thread.
I don’t know how they would know Aggrend, or have their connections, but they’re apparently someone quite ingrained in the RP-PvP community and held in high regard.
Imagine a world where we supported creativity and imagination instead of virtual slot machines with extra steps.
If thats the case
Kaivax picked the absolute worst quote known to man in regards to more servers
I’mma keep this thread active until server launch on Thursday.
I re-enabled my subscription to help our community have a chance, but as others said, I have little interest on playing on the pee drinking server.
Crusader Strike doesn’t have the RP tag anymore because they had all pvp servers transfer into it making it just a regular PvP server.
Pee drinker Discord server has over 7500 members spamming slurs, by the way. That’s a non-insignificant size of a server’s population.
110%, I resubbed for fresh. I get more and more discouraged by what I hear of the PvP server and the types of people who will be rolling on it… But I’m gonna do my damnedest to get an RP-PvP guild going and just hope we’re not overly griefed in every form of activity.
Overall, its just a really disappointing situation.
People speaking OOC is fine, and the WoW community is extremely capable of RP. RP however means different things to different people, and you can’t check every box all the time. But what you can do is foster a healthy, welcoming environment where any range of RP is welcome and encouraged.
RP requires organization, and it requires players to be self-starters, going out into the world and engaging with people until they find some they gel well with and who have similar goals.
However it also requires this wide range of nerds to all be in the same place so they can find each other, and that the environment not be so hostile to them that they just give up and quit.
But that appears to be the risk devs are willing to take if they don’t have an RP-PvP realm at launch.
Fun Fact: You can report discord servers on mobile.
So what’s everyone plan for RP in fresh? I feel obligated to participate to show support. Since I am a supporter of having three realms, I feel like I should try to widen my horizons and participate to help normalize RP on the PVP server.
They’re catering to the audience that thinks ninjaing is funny and that griefing is “just part of PVP bro”
Looking at the discord, you won’t get far.
They are extremely aggressive towards anyone who calls them out or doesn’t share their views.
Anyone that gives them an ounce of attention for harassing Roleplayers is going to get a trend going.
why have we completely full sended the route of mega servers? A common complaint about classic wow is that layering can ruin the classic experience by essentially creating a world where its unlikely you see the same people again due to there being 10 different layers of the same world. It is ok for a server to only have 2-3k players while all the megaserver wanters can all organize and stay on Fengris, if future population is a concern it quite literally costs nothing to offer transfers. Horrible thing that blizzard has done.
I also forsee the PvP server abusing mass reports.
