There wasn’t one in the original Classic announcement, either; it was added due to a thread just like this one.
In terms of the “just RP on the PvP server” argument, we’ve discussed it earlier on; in summary, RP servers tend to be good experiences due to having a united and welcoming community, an experience which isolated guilds located on an otherwise likely hostile realm would not be able to replicate.
