Hello, I desperately need help.
I’m more of a casual player, but I enjoy PvP, I enjoy battlegrounds. Really I enjoy most content in this game, even pet battles.
But a lot of quests and stuff this time around that have anima are arena based, and the great vault rewards you gear for doing pvp, so I’ve been trying my hand at it.
I just can’t get it. Maybe it’s me, maybe frost is just bad, but i’m 37-51 over the last two weeks just spamming games and it’s really disheartening losing every game. I’m 5-16 today and it’s just been a slog.
What do I do? I’m not complaining I want to know how to get better. I don’t care if I’m this 2.6k god but slowly falling below 1100 feels terrible.

Try watching streamers that play the same spec at higher ratings, and look at what they’re doing that you’re not. I used to record my games when I cared a lot about getting better to see what I could’ve done differently in each situation.
Half the game is having the correct macros and addons
Unfortunately, frost mage is pretty underwhelming in 2’s and 3’s right now. It is only really in a position to keep the enemy team CC’d/slowed the whole game and set up for your partner because it just lacks the damage to be competitive. Best thing to do if you do not want to change specs is find friends who play classes who can bring that damage. The only way to get better is to play, even if it can feel like an uphill battle!
get gladius/omnibar addons. Sheep healer, kill dps.
go fire
find a rogue/ww/moonkin/spriest
when they stun press combust
slam 10k instants every global off the back of a 15k meteor
you’ll win more than you lose doing that alone up to like 1800
also you should grab a medallion
relentless sucks in 99% of situations for non humans
Does the Medallion make that big of a difference? I figured a passive 20% reduction in CC would be very powerful rather than something that you use once and it’s on cooldown for 2 minutes leaving you vulnerable.
Also I’d rather play frost, and while it’s probably worse than playing fire or even arcane I’d rather play something I enjoy more
medallion is better if ur not a human bc it is extremely important to get out of some stuns
u can do the same thing as fire, as frost.
it will just be worse, just orb ice nova Lance or whatever
if youre playing 2s id say play with something like a disc or hpal, or if you feel like you can survive well on your own, a rogue. for 3s something like mage/spriest/hpal is very good too and is reasonably forgiving. right now fire and arcane are doing better than frost so youre kinda gimping yourself with that a bit, but if you like the playstyle of it then do what you like. if you can be more specific with what youre struggling against we can probably give some better advice, what you said is pretty open ended. really one of the best things you could do though is go fire imo, its incredibly strong right now.
Honestly most of my problem stems from not having anyone to play with. My friends don’t like arena very much which means most of my time is spent in the random group finder which is a mixed bag.
I’ve played mage for a long time so I understand the class, but outside of a stint in 1800 10 years ago in wrath, I haven’t really touched it since then.
I thank everyone for their advice though, particularly the gladius advice, i forgot that addon existed, it’s been a rough day but i’ll keep trying.
yeah finding people to start out with, especially nowadays i can imagine is pretty rough. id just prioritize finding people you have fun playing with and try to network from there.
as far as addons go, like someone else said, gladius/sArena are both very good for frames, and getting something like omnibar or nameplatecooldowns will help alot with tracking enemy cds as well.
also try to focus on cooldown management. knowing how to properly trade cooldowns is extremely important right now with the gameplay being fast again.
