If we’re going to have them, it would be better if we can pick our layer from a list by using a button. We might as well go all in on this.
Yes, lets make it even easier for people to abuse the layering system. If you want to change layers you find a friend and group with them.
Giving everyone the option to just select them invites abuse. Not to mention the layer thrashing this would create.
How would you like it if you worked for 15-20 min. getting to a quest mob and just as you were about to engage, someone changes into your layer and tags it.
If it’s already an abuseable, non classic system, it would be better to integrate it into the system instead of pretending that we’re playing classic tbc. We’re long past that point.
So your logic is, well since it is abused now, lets just make it easier to abuse?
You should either fix it or accept it as part of the game and integrate it so that people understand what’s going on instead of pretending that layering doesn’t exist.
Who is pretending it does not exist? Blizzard has made it very clear it is in the game. And no, you do not embrace the abuse my making it easier to do.
It would be better because if you’re on a dead layer you can go to one with actual people on it instead of having to spam for invites to layer hop. The system is bad but if it’s going to be in the game it’s better to make it work properly.
Invite me to the dead layer. I’m trying to get these quests done
Yeah that could be a good option too. Let people congregate on layer 1 and let people quest on other layers. The integrity of the game doesn’t matter anymore at this point, just open it up.
Explain your use case. If you are solo questing then an empty layer is preferable. If you are group questing then you already have friends you are questing with, so again an empty layer is preferable.
So what exactly do you want to layer hop for, other than to abuse the system for your gain.
We’ve been playing it like it is all this time. I don’t really know why this is coming up all over again. I’m on a high pop server and I don’t even know the last time I saw someone wanting a layer hop.
Because I would want to go to a layer with a lot of people most of the time to hang out in shattrath or to world pvp, and also because you could go to an empty one to quest. But in a way it would feel more like an mmo if each layer is a real location you can go to rather than this thing the game doesn’t even tell you exists. If they’re in the game, it would be better to hop through layers when you want to.
people love that logic, applies to literally everything now, boosts, dual spec, wow token etc
I highly doubt there will be layers where Shat is empty.
The truth is if people could choose layers, almost everyone would go to layer 1 with everyone on it and there would be tons of dead layers.
you can switch layers, can just ask people in lfg for a layer hop.
Exactly, so just add it into the game instead of pretending we can’t.
Why do you need a functionality that already exists?
Because spamming lfg for an invite to layer hop is a dumb mechanic?
Do you want the Looking for Dungeon system that ports people to dungeons?
