Please fix the mage towers so that more than 5% of your playerbase can enjoy it

Everyone knows it is overtuned, or at the very least wildly imbalanced for different specs. It almost feels like abandoned content. When said content is five years old and only 5% of your player base has even completed one part of it, you may want to consider why and the steps you could take for it to feel better for your player base. Challenges are great, but when someone says that they pulled a boss 300 times I just feel bad for them. People shouldn’t have to farm old content for socket gear and spend tons of gold to defeat what is supposed to be a test of your mastery of the class you are playing. Its just way out of whack and can be so much better.

Sadly on the forums all you are likely to get is the “I got mine” players.

It’s mean to be a challenge mode purely for cosmetic reward.

it’s already easier than it used to be.

Pretty sure everyone is waiting for legion remix to cheese it just like the mop proving grounds.

Which would actually be in line with how it worked in Legion, you could (slightly) outgear it. If you did it in Tomb of sargeras gear it was hard, since it was implemented that tier, but if you did it in Antorus gear is was a little easier since you were one tier above it.

The time walking version constantly scales so you can never outgear it, even though that was something you could technically do in Legion.

You could do them in Nighthold/7.1.5 gear (890-900, best gear available when it was out)

They were tuned around ToS gear (~920-930), but most people did them in Antorus gear (950+), with the NLC and extra 7.3 power.

With the various relaunches, it’s felt more like they were trying to tune them to be closer to the experience at ~910, with the 7.2 artifact rings (no 7.3 NLC).

MT isn’t going to be part of Remix. Zero chance they’ll mess with balancing that with the threads.

It’s been getting easier and easier each expansion it’s been out. The TWW shadow one is at a point where you skip the last phase completely with current DPS. Even with scaled ilvl.

Isn’t that how you did it in Legion though? Just surrender to madness in P2, and kill it before P3 ends?

No. In legion you surrendered and killed it in 1st burn, which is P2.

Shadowlands it was you killed it 1 minute 40 seconds into P5. Which is just before the 2nd cast of the 3rd hand.

DF you killed it roughly a minute into P5.

Now you skip P5 completely and kill in the 2nd burn. Without consumables. So no rune adds at all.

The most important thing about the fight is and always will be how good your first burn is when Raest becomes active.

DON’T YOU BURST MY BUBBLE! SO HELP ME I WILL PULL ON YOUR TAIL! YOU DON’T WANT A GNOME PULLING ON YOUR TAIL! :imp:

I just want new tints or weapons and no matter how easy or hard blizzard could make the MT, there will be a flood of tears.

On the other hand, Blizzard might not even bring back the MT if Legion is remixed. Flood of tears anyway… lol.

It is scaled out of whack. They are doable but you need to flask and use buffs.

I leveled this druid and was like 587 range and got the Felbear. I used a flask some cheap enchants and a scroll that helped my dps.

I wish they would let you use legendaries since in Legion you could. Why they removed that is stupid. They made them easier not fool proof. You still need to follow the mechanics.

But my main account has all 36 artifact skins. And the Spelltome book.

Until they introduce recolors … for this 2nd account I have, the felbear is all I care about.

Good news! It’s not necessary to farm socket gear or spend tons of gold. Catch up gear from Siren Isle with Dragonflight enchants and consumables (dirt-cheap on AH and thanks to scaling are perfectly effective) are more than enough.

I don’t think that a challenge mode having low completion rates is evidence that it needs a nerf. It’s okay for some players to not be up to the challenge. In this case, I’d even wager that the low completion rates have more to do with it being old content than with it being too hard. How many new players have the Mage Tower on their minds after all?

The Mage Tower is tuned just fine.

It’s not overtuned, it’s designed to make you use your various toolkit spells to control the instance. You cannot just power through it, and aside from exploiters abusing item scaling at the launch of the remixed tower, you cannot power through it. IMO players who abused the scaling should have their mounts and mogs removed, but Blizz apparently doesn’t care.

When I did my Holy Priest tower challenge I realized quickly that I would simply wipe if I ignored certain mobs, and after respec’ing to some more utility I locked down the lethal mobs and beat the tower in week 1 before the nerfs (which weren’t needed). Avoid bad stuff, CC and interrupt the right things, and beat the instance over time. I did my challenge in full Shadowlands PvP gear, I didn’t have sockets or anything special, the gear scaling makes it so it’s pretty even for everyone.

I’m part of the 5% too! First reply really called it, sadly. I just think that the fights are pretty great on the whole and the player base would really enjoy them if they weren’t squarely aimed at a miniscule amount of elitist players. Furthermore a couple of the encounters are insanely undertuned as well! Its good content it just needs another quality pass —especially considering the philosophy changes they touted leading into this expansion. If you really need to flex your peen I’m sure they could keep the original fights and achievements for the compensation kids. Let’s let more people enjoy content!

Imagine having a Mage Tower :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Are they overtuned or does hardly anyone care?

Ever considered that question?
