Please fix archaeology

Thats exaclty what im doing i havent left EK in days ive been farming dwarf digsites for my staff and doing the other ones i dont need and sitting at 200 frags and only sovling to be able to collect more to get rid of those trash sites to get more dwarf

like yes but we will go to kalimdor for tol’vir and to get doll. I think there are better fixes out there

lol im 100% done with
Troll
NE
Anub
Fossil

Just need Dwarf and ill be 5/5

so when Tolvir luanches i have a higher chance of getting alot of Tolvir sites then NE and others which is kinda nice considering Tolvir has 13 items to solve 6 are epics ( rares ) 3 are level 85 epics and 1 of which is my ring and then theres also a mount for normal ( non alch ) can get along with like

Above poster is where I had hoped I would be at this point :stuck_out_tongue:

I aim to complete everything World of Warcraft has to offer. I’ve played the game since '04 to varying degrees of competency and now this is how I extract my fun, and justify the $14/mo for a 20-yr-old game. I ended WotLK with 96% of ATT completed (besides appearances - I’ve since added them) and every achievement besides some Arena/PVP ones.

I started pre-patch with the goal of completing Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms to prep for Tol’vir, and knock those out as quickly as possible. I knew it would be a hard grind and was going to be the only OSRS-type grind that exists in WoW (for the most part). I had these in a “short-term goal” category to spend pre-patch effectively because there was literally nothing else relevant to do, and knew pre-patch would be a great runway without much distraction to knock those out. Obviously, I’ve since moved these items to “long-term goals.”

My actual progress:
2,500 solves
Fossil - done
Orc - done
Nerubian - done
Draenei - done
Vrykul - done
Dwarf - Missing Staff (I’m boomie/mage)
Troll - Missing Sword
Night Elf - Missing Trinket

When broken down to racial solves, fairly certain I’m “not dry” given it’s understood the drop rate is less than, if not significantly less than, 1%.

If I ballpark an average of 10 solves/hour, I’ve spent 250 hours on a “fun for 3 hours” profession and have essentially nothing to show for it when compared to my goals, and I’m just as likely to spend another 250+ hours on this. Minimal Archeology says I made 20k, which in the current market is typically 2 min bids, or 1/10th (ish) of a BiS trinket peak bidding in GDKP. If I spent this much time in Old School Runescape on a boss, I’d at least have a healthy amount of valuable concessionary loot to made the grind tolerable… that doesn’t exist in Archeology in any format. It’s just sunken time.

We’re not asking for a handout, we’re just asking for a reasonable bad luck protection mechanic, fragment trader, or way to make an antiquated profession that was re-designed dozens of time, and a system that was only replicated once with Legion legendaries (which were nearly immediately patched) something that is bearable. It shouldn’t be unreasonable for a consumer with 250 hours into a secondary profession to be considered “exceptionally dry” for only receiving 1 out of 4 (shield) 359s.

The “spirit of the original design” was flawed by the development team’s own admission in the form of numerous patches. And frankly, I doubt any of them put any time into conquering the profession themselves, besides maybe getting to 450.

When Cataclysm actually hits in ~35 hours, and 99% of the complaints about Archeology go away, please remember there’s a subsection of the population that is still putting time into very bad design and throw us a tiny bone with some effective BLP. We’ll be busy doing launch activities for a few weeks, so feel free to think it through in between triaging the launch, just please don’t forget about us

They forgot about us and they don’t even care. Like the fact that some people got all 4 by 300 and we are still chasing into 3000+ solves. I legitimately hate the people that didn’t put in time and got their items and got to enjoy prepatch or doing literally anything else in their lives.

I will not be investing anymore time into archeology when patch comes out and I will continue to keep saying that they never should have released this abomination of a profession until cataclysm actually launched.

As a completionist, I’m glad it got as much attention as it did. Otherwise, there would have been zero action or changes made and the pretty niche population of achievement hunters and completionists would have been totally out in the cold.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt like… ill-will toward the lucky, I just wish it were me. It’s only when they start trivializing another’s experience or bad luck simply because it wasn’t their experience where I start to get miffed.

you’re definitely talking about me when it comes to those small solve numbers. I find it absurd people have put that many attempts in with no results and I’m sitting here with every single item/pet except the dwarf staff currently available with less than 450 total solves across all races. The fact people have the patience to go past 200 of any race is in itself bonkers and I’ve done some ridiculous grinds.

100% the fact that im still chasing a item after over 100 hours of grinding is stupid its easier to get Smourne then this staff

They think you’re doing it because you enjoy it. They’re so pleased to see everyone out engaging with the content!

800+ posts here describing how WRONG those devs are…

This profession is so ‘fun’ right?!! LoL

When Crix asked the question and they replied theyre happy that we are out there having “FUN”

He should have hit them with a rebuttal question “Blizz admitted that Archaeology was broken 13+ years ago why didn’t you address it this time around, instead of wasting resources changing parts of the game that didn’t need to be addressed”

The interviews are a privilege and they aren’t professional journalists, they aren’t going to risk being taken off the roster of interviewers to push back against a topic that for most people won’t matter in a week or two.

STOP giving blizz more power then they deserve streamers are puppets to they dont care about there fan base just like blizz doesnt care about the player base

K. Sounds good.

Well ladies and gents…Just remember, blizzard doesn’t care about its players.

Try to enjoy your cataclysm for those who didn’t get lucky. I’m sure they’ll make a change down the road when this is no longer relevant content in their game. This is just massive proof that they are completely out of touch with the players.

The only thing we succeeded in doing is boosting their playtime KPIs. High playtime = super fun game, right?

To be fair, that is pretty much right.

If this game (with its upcoming raid and all other contents) is indeed no longer fun. People will abandon it and for sure not waste their time grinding pre-raid bis gear.

All pservers have bad-luck protection or simply increased epic archeology item proc rate cuz they know player will leave if otherwise. Blizzard knows most players that are actually farming archeology will stay with them regardless, so what’s the point of making QOL improvements?

the fact that blizzard addmitted that arch was broken 13+ years ago and did NOTHING to fix this time around but instead wasted time and resources changing parts of the game that didnt need to be changed.

And here your credibility hits zero. You have ZERO way of knowing what Blizzard cares about. So you are therefore just making up garbage for some personal narrative.

#fixarcheology I shouldn’t have 2 characters over 1k solves with 1 epic on 1 and 0 on the other.

Archaeology is one of the worst designs in WoW’s history. You have an opportunity to fix it, Blizzard. Why won’t you?
