I’m not opposed to that, it just requires writing code and testing it, which then becomes a trade-off in time investment. In theory just tweaking a variable could be done quickly.
And you can prevent most people from getting hosed by tweaking the rate itself, albeit it doesn’t fully eliminate outliers it should lower the count at where they are and thin the pack significantly.
We don’t know the actual proc % (some of the posts from 2010-2011 seem fairly solid, but they were still estimates), so it’s hard to do more than guesstimate the math.
Your solution is arguably more elegant, but at at least somewhat greater cost and Blizz …probably won’t do anything at all anyway so we’re just talking amongst ourselves.

A reminder we’re still being spammed with fossil sites despite having the shield due to a pet added in a later patch. They’ve had every opportunity to fix this by now they’re just laughing at your misfortune.

the blp doesn’t need to be that good either, like 10 or even 20 solves of a common and that common stops showing up would be enough to put an end point on it and still make it a massive god damn grind

Bad luck protection or an alternate way to obtain rewards is desperately needed for this profession. Luck based systems like archaeology have never been received well and have been changed to a better system fairly quickly.
Even legendary weapons in Dragonflight have a way to continuously increase your chances of obtaining them.
There is no reason why archaeology should be left in this state in a revised version of Cataclysm. If this was another version of the game, the outcry would be addressed immediately. Since this is Cataclysm, we’re left with no communication and no effort to provide an enjoyable experience.

We have been pleading for days at this point its unacceptable, if the mechanic is supposed to be if you cannot get anymore of a specific race you should have those digsites reduced yet you wont move the hatchling down so we can reduce fossils or code it appropriately to already reduce which it SHOULD be until official launch.
Half of my time is getting wasted because i’m getting mostly fossils and I can’t put into words how angry I am because of it

Ya i got zinrok on 28 troll solves so i was obscenely lucky but I see my guildies grinding their asses off day after day for them and im just glad af i didnt end up having to do that. Bump the chance to discover up to like 3 or 5% its an extremely easy win that next to nobody will have a problem with

I lowball mine at 250, not counting nelf or nerub. That was at like a week of spending my nights at it.
