not alts and it makes sense for anyone whos played thru wrath
Played thru OG Wrath, in fact I played through: OG Vanilla, TBC, Wrath, Cata, WOD ----->DF
Iâve also played thru Class Van, Classic TBC and Classic WoTLK.
Iâve also played SOD.
So with all of that being said⌠It still makes zero sense.
get back to digging
Blizzard seem fine changing old outdated systems to git a modern player base. not little things either HUGE things. yet wont touch meaningless archaeologyâŚ
thats the point. they ether cant fix it due to spaghetti code or just refuse to fix it
Ok now I see what you are sayingâŚ
Yea I donât think they are going to fix it and the main reason is they eventually drop it in Legion or some place around there â canât exactly remember.
Archaeology was a super missed and messed up profession that could have really been something cool but alas it was a time sync and not very good, so I agree they missed the mark on this one.
Missed the mark is an understatement iâve played wow since vanilla and I canât think of a single time where iâve hated wow to the degree I do right now, nor have I had to wake up do 1 thing all day and then sleep > repeat for any other thing in wow.
This grind is honestly worse than scarab lord and at least that was guaranteed after x amount of hours and gave a cool title and mount.
Checking in to keep this thread going. I did finally get Zinârokh today after 660 solves. It hasnât changed my opinion, Archeology needs bad luck protection! Donât make players suffer through this Blizzard!
im at 527 so close
They could:
-make digs give more fragments
-make digs have higher chance of keystones(dwarf ones are now double/triple what they were prior to latest fix)
-increase the chance slightly
-make the fossil pet available NOWâŚso we can close out fossil and stop getting 4/4 digs as fossil on the continent.
Any of those things are reasonable. Iâm sure if you look at what people care about, I would guess that more people would rather see this changed now, than later, over any other current issue.
1252 solves - got shield
all fine lower chances more to state when you dont get nothing and spend all 200/200 artifacts
Up to 1259 - also got shield
no trinket staff or 2h.
Bump please fix this profession somethign has to give. Bad luck Protection or 100% have to find every blue rare or common first before your next one being the Epic please
The current state of archaeology speaks to either a massive failure of the Cata Classic team in understanding how a huge subset of their playerbase plays their game, or a simple lack of foresight. I sincerely hope it is the latter.
Instead of #SomeChanges being a slogan that allows things to be left out due to time/complexity constraints, I hope it can act as a licence for the team to make the needed changes to systems like archaeology. Systems that lead to poor gameplay, an in retrospect, are overwhelmingly viewed as a mistake when tied to player power.
Since I feel obligated to farm Archaeology for Zinârohk in order to help my guild during heroic progression, I have been completely unable to enjoy the rest of what the prepatch offers. Iâve been forced to spend any free time I have digging up scratch tickets with no end in sight due to the lack of bad luck protection. Please look into fixing this!
What if they had a choice of 3 each time you complete one? 3 chances for what you want each time you complete something.
+1 lets not let them win!
Dev resources are understandably limited. Please make sure digsites arenât being reduced when the 359 epics havenât been found, and please either add the pterrordax pet to the game files or reduce fossil sites if every rare except the pet has been found. The players can take care of the rest from there.
Join the movement!
Agree.
They could seemingly also increase the number of active sites per continent to 5, or 4 frags per site - all things that are presumably discrete values in the code that wouldnât require a rework, just a sub or two.
Increasing the % even by +1% would likely have the biggest impact - it wouldnât eliminate the tail entirely, but it should thin it significantly (fewer people impacted), and the 1000+ racial solves would become more of an outlier, albeit still possible.
Honestly they should just cap the number of solves on a race before it pops a rare. If it takes more than 200 or 300 to pop a rare thatâs just too long. Leave the low percentage for luck and cap the outliers.
