Please explain Wave Scrambler 2000 (Delves) for me?

So I bought this thing with 2k Undercoin and this is what I understand (could be wrong):

It’s immediately on a 24h cooldown after purchasing so I cant use it today but…

  • The Wave Scrambler spawns the Underpin mini boss

  • The Underpin mini boss, he will drop a map if you haven’t gone one already. If you did get a map, he won’t drop a second.

  • Will he drop gear? or just a chance of gear? I thought a guildie got a Hero track piece from him

  • It’s better to use the Scrambler (or Bounty map?) on an 11 than 8, for Gilded crests

I tested it out last week on an 11(i had already gotten a map earlier). He dropped a 639 champion trinket (the internet says he can drop a radiant echo as well/instead of). He also gave some crests/valorstones, I can’t remember what they were but for sure not gilded. By chance I’ve gotten 2 scramblers from the mislaid curiosities, so it’s def worth opening them.

I got a champion piece of gear from him last week, but not this week. So its either a chance each time or was just guaranteed once, not sure.

Yes, use the bounty map on an 11 for 10 gilded crests and a hero piece of gear in the chest.

I haven’t had a 24 hour cooldown on using it after purchasing, not sure what that’s about.

He can also drop the Pacifist Rig curio, which is probably less important but still fun.

I saw 6-7 spawns running alts last week, I don’t think I got gear but it’s nice to know it can happen.

I had no CD on the scrambler after buying it, but it went on CD after I killed him when he naturally popped without using it.

But IDK if it was after the kill or after using the map (I was already in a T11 Mycomancer Cavern - Treasure hunt story, so might as well just use the map then and there).

I just bought this item, have not used it, have not fought the underpin, and it is on a 24 hour cooldown with no explanation as to why.

You drop the wave scrambler at the half way point in a delve and it will force spawn the underpin

Things to know about this item and under pin

  • The wave scrambler shares a cooldown with everyone else in the party, if someone else used it to force spawn underpin and you are in their group, yours will also go on cooldown
  • underpin will drop a map once per week per character, subsequent kills of underpin will drop echos
  • he has a chance to drop vet gear as well.

This has just happened to me, i purchased scrambler 2 days ago, left in bank, removed today to run delve -NO COOLDOWN- enter delve and now its got 24hrs

Yup, he spawned naturally for me today even though i have had a map drop and used a Scrambler this week, he still gave me an echo and some VP. No loot though, however he still did give some loot when i used the scrambler on my 2nd kill.

you enter the devle
you make it to the check point
you use the item
boss spawns
you eiteher die or kill him
loot his pile
loot the map
use the map
kill the final boss
loot the map chast
repeat again next week
you get 1 map per a week dont use 2 or itll be wasted

I never once got ambushed by Zek’vir last season, but the Underpin shows up a lot this season. I have 4 wave scramblers that I haven’t had to use yet.

So much development effort just to waste player time and take away currency - how about just make the dang map guaranteed on the first bountiful of the week?

As it is, this seems only useful to buy IF you use up all keys AND get screwed by the RNG and don’t get a map.

Why is it even possible to use all keys and not get a map when the map has a once per week cooldown?

Oh yeah, to waste player time.

I’ve fought Underpin 3 times in delves (twice random encounter, once summoned via Wave Scrambler). The first one dropped a map, second dropped a 639 gear piece and the third dropped both a map and 639 gear piece.

I’m running one of my alts through a delve atm. Have the item on her. Entered delve, no cooldown. Get to the halfway point, suddenly it has a 24h cooldown and I haven’t clicked on it?

had something weird happen to me yesterday. did not have the item, got to midpoint and boss spawned but I had a ton of other mobs on me already. I was staying alive but couldn’t manage to kill him, Brann kept me in combat so feign did not help so I just stopped and died

When I razzed, there was a pile on the ground and I looted a map from it. not sure where it came from but I also got a scrambler in my inventory, maybe from curiosities.

but the pile dropped without me even killing him

The wave scrambler also has a warbound cooldown it seems, used one on my Druid then hopped over to my priest bought one and it’s on cd

I think Zekvir dropped stuff even if he wiped you mid delve too, my guess is to not make people feel bad if they lose out on the item.

I actually think there was a video that someone found you could just run far away and Zekvir would despawn and leave the reward. Not sure if underpin does that

I want to just add to this topic really quick:

You -can- find a Wave Scrambler randomly from Mislaid Curios. I managed to pick one up yesterday mid-delve and thought “Huh. Might as well use it now.”

May be worth saving your coinage unless you’re in heavy need.
