Add-ons are not created by Blizzard tho…
I’d argue that hardcore players have to use add-ons as a necessity. Because the content is build around them.
But if the content would be developed for gameplay and not to count in Add-ons that might change.
IMHO all content should be possible without the use of combat add-ons.
Combat add-ons should have stayed as simple as telling something is happening, especially for the disabled community.
Nowadays add-ons can compute way too much.
You just Uno Reverse’d yourself
Nowadays Blizzard is using computes to make you spend time in-game instead of making being in-game entertaining in and of itself.

While I’m not anti-addon, i do understand where people are coming from when they talk about the game (particularly the high end content) being designed around addons so the game ends up needing them, i understand people just wanting the game to function at every level without the need for addons.
I don’t really care one way or another but i must say that it’s frustrating to have convoluted mechanics added to the game that pretty much make addons a necessary requirement. If mechanics were designed around what you could reasonably expect a human being to be capable of doing bare bones, we wouldn’t need stuff like DBM, various weakauras and discord just to attempt them.
Having said all of that, a casual player like me who only does low keys and a little normal/heroic raiding, there’s absolutely no need to have them, players that are around my level or lower have no need to download dozens of addons and run cookie cutter spec’s, just play whatever the hell makes you happy and don’t let various websites/forums tell you that you must have X, Y and Z addons because it’s BS.
The “mount” of information you “need” to “keep” in track in current WoW is almost nonexistent. Game has never been this easy.
I just took a level 10 who was doing Legion missions to BfA, and even though she isn’t to the point of being able to do BfA missions, she lost her access to the minimap link to Legion mission progress. There are addons for that. I see no reason that info should be kept from a player doing missions in more than one expansion.
i agree. we don’t need asmongold. everyone thinks he and his drones need to go and we’d have a better game/forums.
Well if Asmongold said it.

Yeah we aren’t going to lose addons, unless Blizz really wants to burn away the rest of their playerbase.
It would be a cataclysmic move on their part, they wouldn’t recover.

I can well understand those who think Blizz really need to be giving the UI the sort of utility that the main mods bring. However, as they seem to be willing to let others do the lifting, I see no real need to get rid of addons (as long as those who make/distribute them are not engaging in shady practices).
I feel like it would be an improvement if they were to add certain addons to the standard UI and game.
People like and dislike different addons though so maybe they could add features where there are beta testing options to try out those addons (it would be open to all players).
So yeah… they could maybe experiment with gradually adding different addons to the game as toggle-able features.
I don’t think it’s hardcore people that request it. It’s people on their alts trolling the forums with the latest subject in one of Asmon’s videos. They know that it’s guaranteed reaction.

Back in Vanilla-TBC I used Map Coord and Energy Meter but got rid of those pretty fast.
When I joined a raid guild it has been ask that I use Add-ons, I tried, hated it and left the guild before being kicked out.
I’m aware that some players would have hard time to play without it but the issue isn’t the basic UI?
I just assigned lots of hotkeys and adjust the camera to the circumstances, Add-ons or not I won’t see any difference.
If Add-ons = better performance, then Add-ons = cheat, I don’t know if it’s the case tbh
Would they actually know?
If it isn’t something about Loot, like loot council, o don’t think someone would be able to figure out that you are not using any.
Oh, well if HE said they need to go, that’s all the reason I need.
…to find even more to load up in my setup.

Good question, back when it has been asked (2006) I’m pretty sure it would have been impossible to know.
Anyway the guild never got pass AQ20

In the interview they werent telling you, you cant use addons. To your description, What instead of buying a 3rd party gps, the car already had its own gps but you could use your 3rd party too.
Hey now leave us clickers out of this. Asmongold doesn’t represent us.

just add details into the ui, add map cords, have tmog page show which pieces belong together as a whole set better, unlock rares location perm on your map once you see or kill it once, add a sell all grey/grays button. That would solve most of my needs of addons
They aren’t going to remove addons. These people are all crazy. If you think the flying thing in WoD made people quit, just wait until addons are banned. They ain’t seen nothin yet.
