Please don't implement this

  • Ultimate Retribution (PvP Talent) has been redesigned – Mark an enemy player for retribution after they kill an ally within your Retribution Aura. If the marked enemy is slain within 8 seconds, cast Redemption on the fallen ally.

Not for the fact that it’s a paladin with a b-rez, but… it’s a paladin witha b-rez.

After listening to Ion’s interview with Preach and how they wanted to stray away from homogenization and then the next day finding out they’ve given RET PALADIN a brez IN PVP has got me seriously considering why I play the game anymore. Not because I feel like it will be unfair but its really gotten to the point where its like why play my class at all if a ret paladin can do it and not only that but do it better and more reliably.

Thank you for listening. I don’t have all my frustrations eloquently put but I’d like to know other’s opinions.

It would only maaaaaybe have use in 2s vs double dps but rets the kill target most of the time anyway

So it actually has zero use in arena

So who cares

Ok sounds powerful on paper I guess will be different in practice

It’s already in game. They’re just changing now it works.

You still have to cast the res.

Literally for the longest time this was Monk / DK that had all the Copy / Paste spells.

It’s interesting to see it applied to paladin, at least it’s not yet again more DK / monk or Demon hunter love in this way.

I don’t want to see Demon hunter, DK or Monk suck tho, just that this is interesting and I think blizzard is really misguided in how they do stuff now.

Everything just feels so artificial and forced, nothing feels organically designed or intuitive any more; they put spell proc chance for some crazy crap on things just because they gotta some new spell in place that’s crazy somehow and they think that crap is gonna prop SL participation up?

If they really wanted this game to be excellent they would higher a real game designer.

They want to force this meaninfull choices, the only problem is that in the old days, it was not complicated but time consuming to change specs. There were a lot more stats and talents and you had to commit to a spec by spending many points on it. On top of that you had to acquire and tune your gear for said spec. People were ok with this because the talent choices and gear is natural for an RPG. That how RPGs are.

Nowdays you can change specs in any resting area, you have a few talents that barely change how the spec plays and most of them are “whatever you do, keep doing it but with bigger numbers”. There are so few stats that basically all gear (except for weapon and trinkets) are the same iteration of 2 of 4 stats, so bascially every slot is extremely similar if not equal to one another.

So they need to re-add this meaningfull choices that come super frontloaded, forced and artificial that feels out of place because people can just swap to whatever they want whe they want how they want and they created this scenario themselves.

People are freaking out like ur rly going to mark a target as he kills your boy, kill him in 8 seconds and cast a rez. If this honor talent was pulled off it would be on those wow highlights clips nonstop.

Relax man frost mages are getting a literal anivia wall

LMAO true, I am waiting to see how troll thats gonna be

Where are ppl getting this?

The tooltip says nothing about a castime.

Which is a distinct difference from before when it indicated both the cast time and use in combat.

The new tooltip almost reads to me like it’s an auto proc brez after you “Mark for Life”

I think it’s a great change

Also I heard they going to have a mage pvp talents called time shift last 8 secs and if an ally dies in that window you can shift time and have them back to life at the health the ability was activated. Baseline

it really doesn’t

there’s 0 chance this ever gets any kind of use

not only do you have to cross kill within 8 seconds
you have to be in retribution aura
AND you have to CAST the ress

if anyone lets any of this happen they deserve to lose the game

this was tested, right? the lack of wording worries me

Of course it’s a cast this pvp talent was meant for random battleground for some flavour and it’s still not worth picking for that either lol

If it’s instant be prepared for triple ret meta in 3s

Everyone keeps saying “well, obviously its a cast!!” as though Rets don’t already have a very similar PvP talent that is worded completely differently than this one, which is a cast time.

If it’s a cast-time on PTR, there’s a very real chance that it’s a leftover from the past implementation. The way this passive reads is completely different to Ultimate Retribution on Live.

Live:
When an ally within 40 yards falls below 25% health, you gain Avenging Wrath for 6 sec.

When an ally is slain within 40 yards of you, your Redemption spell can now be cast while in combat within the next 20 sec with a 6 sec cast time. Using Divine Shield or Blessing of Protection on yourself will cancel this effect.

PTR:
Mark an enemy player for retribution after they kill an ally within your Retribution Aura. If the marked enemy is slain within 8 sec, cast Redemption on the fallen ally.

Either the tooltip is incredibly misleading where it previously was not, or this talent is not implemented correctly.

I hope someone can test this on PTR because im pretty sure its INSTANT without a cast time you just to cross kill the dude to rez him. Just means any 2v2s that would happen in 3s will actually just be 3v2 2s which doesn’t happen much.

Supposedly people have, and it is still a cast-time. Dunno if anyone’s poked at it this build.

But since it is PTR and this is an update to an existing PvP talent with similar functionality, it seems incredibly weird that an already dead, niche PvP talent is deliberately becoming even more niche in the patch that is supposed to overhaul and improve PvP talents.

Especially when the tooltip gets changed to remove all indication that you have to hard-cast it.

Idk, I’m chalking it up to not being implemented correctly if this is the case. Especially since the first 3 months of this expansion was full of hotfix notes fixing resto shaman abilities that just straight up weren’t working correctly in PvP, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising that a random PvP talent on PTR isn’t working right yet.

This, there is Zero indication of a castime time and I want to bet money when a ret cross kills with ret aura up his buddy pops up like Lazarus

I’ve yet to find any vids on it being tested tho

It doesn’t even say if there’s a target cap.

So if a Ret claps multiple ppl and you kill that ret do you just AoE Rez like it’s easter morning?

New meta is just ret holding his wings until his teammate dies
