I see some Sylvanas fans who try to lobby for Dark rangers requesting Blood elf Dark rangers for Horde, and Night elf Dark rangers for the Alliance. In the possibility that DRs are coming, while this may seem fair on the surface, please please don’t give us Night elf DRs. They look nowhere near as cool as Blood elf DRs. I am not trying to bash anyone for suggesting it, but to be completely frank, we should not be given any more Night elf rigged races until the Night elven rig receives a full overhaul. The body, the legs, the faces, pretty much everything.
They attempted to base the Nightborne rig around the Night elf rig for the most part, and look where this lead, to people complaining it looks ‘‘botched’’. So no Night elf based races until the Night elf rig is completely overhauled. Night elf faces look like they’ve had bad plastic surgery done, the legs and thighs are disproportionately thick compared to the body (as is an issue with most Alliance Vanilla races), and males swing back and forth when still in combat stance in a really awkward manner.
The Blood elven rig is a really great rig (hence why it’s being used for Drakthyr) so naturally people want to see more rigs like that, hence the requests for Blood elf DRs and High elves.
If you cannot give us Blood elf DRs on the Alliance too (and it’s fair for them to be Horde because they want a unique theme for themselves) then give us something else. Something that would be as cool for the Alliance as DRs would be for the Horde. Two possible options that could thematically fit with the current expac are:
High elves
Ethereals
Now, before you attempt to shoot me for suggesting High elves, let me explain that my reason for suggesting them are 1. because I don’t want Night elf DRs, 2. because they thematically fit with the latest 9.2 cinematic of Vereessa and Alleria hanging out together after briefly speaking to Sylvanas. They seem even more united now than before given the separation from their sister, and since they both serve the Alliance they could choose to unite forces in the Alliance High elves and Void elves.
Plus, you somehow have to make up for Mechagnomes being the least popular race in the Alliance by a long shot.
Kinda feel like posts like this are just meant to stir up drama from Anti-high elf folks instead of achieve anything. Any AR that might be coming in 9.2.5 is set in stone at this point and they aren’t just going to delete the idea because it’s unpopular.
Honestly what I’m hoping dark rangers are, are different spell effects and DK character skins. This sounds like such a bummer when it comes to a whole new class, particularly if it is yet another one limited to elves.
I’m very confused by what you mean by high elf we literally 100 percent have high elves now in everything except name all the customization is there. Also while I do love ethereals they dont seem at all relevant at the moment and havent been since legion
Problem is that the suggested race needs to thematically fit the expansion… what about Kyrian for Alliance? Or the butterfly people? These are less popular requests tho
Yeah and dark rangers use magic as well. I don’t see what an alliance ranger would add because you can roll one as a hunter really. And difference is undead hunters are really dark rangers which is why I don’t think they need to add dark rangers tbh
The Ranger verses Hunter is a misdirection. They aren’t the same class. Just because they both use ranged weapons in part doesn’t make them the same. Using that argument, Mages, Warlocks and Elemental Shamans, Shadow Priests are all the same class. They all use ranged magic attacks.
Dark rangers and Rangers are just basically subsets of Hunters, it doesn’t have enough for a standalone class, and canoncially both Rangers and Undead Dark rangers are found in the Unseen path and Trueshot lodge (notably the recruiters and archery trainers outside are Undead Dark rangers, as well as Dark ranger Velonara).
You are welcome to think this, but the Legion Hunter campaign proves otherwise.
Hunters come in numerous forms, including Undead Hunters.
