That’s a little different as your playstyle doesn’t change in terms of your rotation. You are going to press your dps buttons in the same order lw or no lw.
So in terms of performance, lw is optimal since it doesn’t change your playstyle like other builds would and just provides a flat damage increase.

and what DPS buttons does having a pet out as MM provide? Kill command is BM only, as is beastial wrath, some of the other BM abilities are substitutes for what MM gets (cobra and barbed shot)
Really, it just seems to come down to utility, which could have been fixed by making LW provide the same utility.

I was more trying to use your argument about LW vs non LW to get the idea that people have different comfort for different content.
To put it one way, not saying you do this as I know you are not, one could take your comment about LW being meta to mean “if you are not running pet less with LW even in world content, you are playing sub optimally or, and some would say this, wrong” I was just trying to get across that, in content that does not matter in the long run, some might prefer to play sub optimally because of comfort or because they want to mess around.
