You’d probably still see the range of complaining and arguing, but I think it would have a better end result.
You’d give mm the identity if ‘no pets’, and you opt into pets. People would still complain that pets are “being removed”, but they would be there.
Idk. People tend to look at things on the surface and judge it from there, when the problems are more than skin deep. Like this “eagle” thing and calling it a pet purely because blizzard did and ignoring what it does and how it functions.
And at its core it both removed pets and didn’t give you the solo playstyle. A 2 sided fence and they threw in another perpendicular fence.
They cite that as “friction” not a tuning issue. If it were actually a tuning issue, they would have come out and said it. But they didn’t. And they didn’t do it any of the previous times they’ve tried to remove pets.
You might what try read better, i never said Microsoft pay the devs, i said blizzard is a multimillion dollar company owned by microsoft, which is a fact, meaning, blizzard as a company is big enough to not need pocket money from players, when they already pay for it.
You assumed otherwise because you lack reading comprehension, or you were hasty in a lame gotcha attempt, which is worse
I think where I get hung up is how this would interact with the talents for the Eagle. Is the pet just extra damage, and would that just necessitate taking the pet as tiny, but notable extra DPS for group content?
Surely something that can be solved, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t solve the complexity in tuning issue.
Yea that’s the biggest problem. If you take away the utility from the pet, it serves no purpose. Because in combat, it just auto attacks. There is no real involvement in dps outside of that.
So now the eagle just swoops down and “CAWS” now you have hero…
Idk you can’t really “balance” it without full diving mm and incorporating the pet INTO combat, if the pet is going to stay.
It’s just so far removed, that tuning is the least of it’s worries now. The complexity comes in at working it BACK into the spec.
Doing a “call pet” talent is kind of a throw away bandaid. It doesn’t even being to fix the core problems.
"“If anything, it’s just been helpful,” Longdale said. “We got time with Helen Chang from Mojang, and we were sharing information, so it’s almost as if we have access to what worked for them. We got to speak to the Elder Scrolls Online team and share what we’re up to and what’s been working, it’s almost like we get a benefit.
“There’s no one asking us to do anything,” she continued. “World of Warcraft is doing very well and they’re very proud of what it’s been able to accomplish, so it’s almost like just let it be, and let it keep being awesome. They’ve been tremendously supportive and it’s like ‘let Blizzard be Blizzard’.”" - Interview with the VP of blizzard
If the company is doing well and they are gaining profits, why would they involve themselves? Do you have proof their hands are in the cookie jar or are you all hot air?
Based on how you don’t even know how subsidiaries work for corporations, I think you just want to argue regardless if you are wrong or right.
But none of those classes had historically had a pet… except frost mage. still grumpy about that but the water ele was more like an imp it did ranged attacks and couldn’t hold aggro.
For no reason.
Why not?
Lock is tuned fined (usually) and has a voidwalker that is never used for, nor tuned in group content.
Except almost no-one is asking for the pet and petless MM to be perfectly balanced.
And anyone who is, isn’t exactly going to be happy by having pets removed completely from MM. So actually moving further away from satisfying that group.
They tried this before and had to back track.
False.
Interestingly you can get an awesome update to MM and keep the pet for solo play at the same time and guess what? You won’t even be forced to use it in solo play if you prefer not to!
That is not inherently a beneficial thing though. Adding simplicity without a gain from it is pointless. It’s just cutting content.
Not really?
Like they haven’t done much with MM pet in a long time. So why would they start now?
This is called feedback.
Good chance they back track.
FFXIV route. No build options/gameplay diversity. Every job (class) plays exactly the same as others and will always take the exact same movements, steps, button pressed on a particular encounter on another at peak performance and achieving peak performance is perfecting that “dance” cuz it’s really just a choregraphed dance the endgame in ffxiv.
FFXIV also got rid of pets… and most dots.
too tricky to balance/fix.
While that seems silly to me I’d accept that compromise.
Blizzard really needs to add a new class that uses bows/guns because some folks want petless archers so bad. And getting 3 specs like that would be even better then just 1 spec.
Which can be fixed without removing the ability to call pet.
OMG, please please stop just cherry picking sentences and reading words while ignoring whole passages that give those words context.
Bliz are balancing the MM spec. They are REMOVING the pet altogether as part of this balance. This is something that is very much aimed at catering to players who play those modes.
Pets are harder to balance. They are taking the easy way out and removing them from MM altogether. You proved this point yourself by mentioning that none of the Tanks have pets.
It’s a simple thing. Pet hard. Blizzard take easy way out. No pet. They don’t want to “fix without removing the ability to call pet”. That’s it. They don’t want to do it. It’s just easier for them to code and balance.
You don’t like. That’s fine. You can dislike all you want. But that’s the reason they are doing it. That’s literally the reason they gave. It’s just too hard.
They mucked things up by giving all sorts of BS reasoning and justification. It’s an Eagle pet/companion/thing. It’s thematic. It’s whatever. They should have just shut up and said nothing.
